Antiquorum’s May Auction: World Records for Two Rolex Daytona Paul Newman Watches
Antiquorum's Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces auction held on Sunday, May 12th at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva, headlined by a selection of vintage Rolex Daytona watches commemorating that model’s 50th anniversary, and set two new world records, including the highest ever sale price for a Daytona at auction.The auction featured a total of 518 carefully curated timepieces and drew bidders from around the world, notably from China, Hong Kong, Italy, the United States and Switzerland. Once again, it was a Patek Philippe that commended the top price at the sale, in this case a Patek Philippe Ref. 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon in rose gold with special order case (lot 225). A unique piece with 12 complications, the watch was sold to an on-site bidder for the eye-opening price of CHF 1,202,500. Warranty location
So after acquired a mint condition ap greytheme I've tried to register the watch however the only thing I'm not sure if I put correctly is the location from the warranty card it says retailer stamp : Audemar piguet japan authorized retailer and the pay country is JP so what do I put when register my watch? Accidental Rolex
This is how it started for me. I was 19 years old and in the U.S.Army stationed in Kassel Germany. The year was 1965. A friend of mine was previously assigned to the 82nd airborne. He had a beautiful watch he used to time his jumps from the aircraft. This watch had all kinds of buttons and knobs and I was really impressed. It was an Omega Sea Master. I owned literally nothing. Even the green uniform I wore belonged to the Army. I wanted one thing I could call my own. I saved my money for a few months. It's hard to save money when your pay is $127.00 a month. I drank about $100.00 a month in that Great German Beer. One Day I got on a train and headed for Frankfort. Arriving at the Post Exchange, I headed for the watch section and asked to see an Omega Sea Master. the sales Lady informed me they were all out of Omegas, but she said We have this.She handed me a watch with no buttons, no knobs, no stop watch, no nothing.
