Patek Sky Moon Tourbillon Brings $1.2 Million at Patrizzi Auction
A Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon in yellow gold, Ref. 5002, sold for $1.2 million at the Patrizzi & Co. auction in New York on October 7. This is the highest price paid for a wristwatch at auction since the beginning of the recession. The watch was purchased by a customer in Europe. CEO Osvaldo Patrizzi said “In the current global recession, this $1.2 million sale result is extraordinary. This auction demonstrates that while demand for mid-level watches for collectors is softening, extraordinary, very rare, limited-edition pieces are still in demand and in some occasions increasing in value.” Mr. Patrizzi also noted that aside from the Sky Moon Tourbillon going to Europe, the other top pieces in the sale went to bidders in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. IT'S OFFICIAL: Jean-Frederic Dufour Named CEO Of Rolex SA
This morning, rumors started flying that Jean-Frédéric Dufour, CEO of Zenith, will be taking the reins as global CEO of Rolex. Well, we confirmed the rumors with Rolex's Geneva office and they're entirely true! Dufour arrived at Zenith in 2009 after working at Blancpain, Chopard, Ulysse Nardin, and a few other brands, and he is largely responsible for the direction in which Zenith has moved over the last half-decade. He will be the sixth CEO of Rolex (the fourth since 2008) and we are excited to see his impact on The Crown.This is the second huge move among top watch industry executives in as many months, with Jean-Claude Biver having been named head of watchmaking at LVMH effective March 1. Though terms and an official date are forthcoming, Dufour will replace current Rolex CEO Gian Riccardo Marini, who has served since 2011 after acting as director of Rolex Italy. Hello Folks,I have a Breitling Bentley A13363 and when I tilt the watch from side to side it makes a sound like a tiny ball or screw rolling inside the watch. Anyone ever encounter this with their Bentley's (or Breitlings in general)?The seller I bought it from says that it's just the movement, but I just wanted to make sure that its not something else. I still have 10 days to return the watch. Any help will be much appreciated.Thanks.
