Kevin Rose Explains How He Got Into High-End Watches & Making The Watchville App For iOS & Android
Kevin Rose's F.P. Journe Chronometre Bleu watch in hand next to the Watchville app.Now in his late 30s, internet entrepreneur, founder of Diggwatches-dealer, and Google Ventures start-up savant Kevin Rose is growing up. Meeting with him in Los Angeles in November 2014, he talks about juggling a work-life balance, looking back on his career to identify trends in technology, and his own perspective on the evolving landscape of online media consumption. What he also talks about is a growing appreciation of items that are truly timeless and an interest in goods that aren't disposable, but that are finely made and intended to last for a long time. While Kevin doesn't yet have children with his wife Darya, he smiles when discussing the topic of passing his watch collection on to his kids someday. It is the type of genuine smile that transcends status and wealth for those holding something in their hands that they are truly passionate about.Kevin Rose has become a rather serious watch guy ove
Steinhart Ocean One Titanium Premium 500 Review
Steinhart is a familiar name to those of us who have been interested in affordable watches over the last several years. When we were first getting into this world, their watches offered a lot of bang for the buck, and looked good too, as they were largely homage watches or recreations of classic styles, like fliegers and marines. Steinhart also manages to do something few other brands are able to, and seemingly with no great explanation as to how, which is offer Swiss made automatic movements in watches that often cost under $500. What they lacked in originality, they seemingly made up for in style and low prices. With that said, it's been a few years since we last reviewed a Steinhart watch. To this day, our review of the Ocean Vintage Military (OVM) remains one of our most read articles and watched videos. The Rolex Mil-Sub homage watch just oozed style, and while controversial, as any homage watch is, was just too much fun to ignore. Plus, the watch it was based on is so rare and goe
Some Voyeurism
OK... there's no watch porn. It's totally innocent. Just some peeping of a... WET Diver... in the bushes Hope you had fun
AP ROO Safari or Panerai Pam569?
I don't know if I am just getting an itch to get something new but I went to the boutique and tried on the Panerai Pam569. I thought it was just a beautiful watch! It is one of those watches that doesn't photograph well but on the wrist, it's just a different story! So with that being said, I don't want to keep both the AP and Panerai. I want to keep one or the other...I already have the Safari. My question is, would you get rid of it to acquire a 569?I already know what the AP section would say and I am curious to what this forum thinks...TIA.Frank
Visited 4 ADs in South Florida this week...
While looking for a new Rolex for my wife's up coming birthday, this week I stopped by four different AD's in South Florida. While at each store I also asked about the availability of the elusive GMT 116710 BLNR. While each stored had great inventory none had the BLNR in stock. This is what I experienced:Mayors said they had none in their system but could order one directly through Rolex and could have it in 3-4 weeks with a 20% refundable deposit. I asked if I put a larger deposit or paid in full if I could get it quicker and he said no as it still takes 3-4 weeks to get it from Geneva.Weston Jewelers said they had one come in on Wed. but was sold very quickly as they worked their way down their waiting list. He said no deposit required.JR Dunn laughed and said that their waiting list was very very long but since I bought two watches from them two years ago I would get priority ranking over someone who hadn't made a purchase. He said they haven't had a BLNR in their store in four months
