Bremont Limited Edition MBII/TWG Watch for The Watch Gallery
Bremont Watches has announced a limited edition version of the MBII pilots watch for the British retailer The Watch Gallery. This new model, the MBII/TWG, sports a very handsome midnight blue case barrel (the standard MBII model offers either green, orange, or grey) and has been fitted with a sapphire display back that is similar to what is used on the new Bremont ALT1-WT World Timer. The MBII was one of Bremont's break out models and effectively offered open availability of the MBI, which is only available to pilots who had actually ejected in a Martin-Baker aircraft ejection seat and is recognizable thanks to a bright red aluminum case barrel. From a watch perspective, the MBI and MBII are noteworthy due to their use of a proprietary anti-shock system which Bremont developed in a partnership with Martin-Baker to protect the BE-36AE movement from the extreme g-forces experienced by some pilots. I really like that the changes to the MBII/TWG are subtle enough to make the watch easily re
Watch & Car Art Together By French Artist Philippe Burlet
French painter Philippe Burlet knows his way around a brush as well as cars and watches. Burlet's medium of choice is watercolors, which he uses to aptly recreate the essence of sport racing and the watch loving spirit. Although relatively obscure in the United States, Burlet is a favorite among European motor sports enthusiasts, who often commission work from the talented painter.Burlet was not always an artist, but lived a life around automobiles. Somewhere in the mix he developed an eye for watches and seemingly became fascinated by their connection to fine cars. Burlet has a penchant for painting Ferrari cars both new and old. Though he does of course recreate other automobiles in watercolor as well. His art featuring watches portrays them in a larger than life manner, appearing bigger than their accompanying cars. This interesting practice serves to emphasize the shape and function of the watches as opposed to their status as timepieces only. This type of work can only come from so
Chopard has really done a good job of mixing classic elegance with a timeless appearance in this watch
It is also the certified COSC chronometer which is not too common in the watches of this type. Chopard has really done a good job of mixing classic elegance with a timeless appearance in this watch. I think it is one of the best of its kind. The price of these coins varies somewhat - retail for approximately $13 500 standard gold version and up to about $35,000 for the diamond version. See one of these watches Chopard L.U.C XPS Diamond available on James list here.
Thank you Rikki!! Jocke too
I got the parts list from Jocke's SM300 project, Rikki was kind enough to put it all together for me and did a full service on the movement. I know there are some who feel this is a franken-watch and I'm not going to debate that. If you take a movement from one watch and put it in the case of another, then it really isn't original or even original with replacement parts, it's an amalgamation. So I can't really call this an NOS Seamaster, it's a wanna-be, but it's my wanna be.Didn't want to pay the watchco prices, didn't want to buy a watch I knew nothing about from ebay or watchuseek. Instead I borrowed Jocke's blue print, bought the parts from Otto Frei, and Rikki was kind enough to pull the movement from a vintage Geneva, service it and put it into a brand new 166.0234 replacement case. Here are some before picture:
