The Value Proposition: Laco Chronograph Watch "New York," Offering Better Value Than Rent
For the first chronograph covered in The Value Proposition, we take a look at a solid offering from a brand we haven’t covered too much here on HODINKEE: Laco. Founded in 1925, the German company gained fame for its pilot’s watches produced in the 1940s. Its current range of watches includes a number of chronographs inspired by the brand’s historic models, with a few modern design updates. If you’ve been looking for a chronograph with traditional looks, but without faux patina or dramatic detailing, the Laco Chronograph Watch “New York” could be a good bet. It also doesn’t hurt that it comes in under $3,000. 2 OF 6 The Valjoux 7750 is a veritable workhorse movement that can be found in many modern chronograph watches. First, a bit about the movement: the Laco Chronograph Watch “New York” uses a Valjoux 7750. This self-winding calibre was introduced in 1974, using a coulisse-lever design in lieu of the more traditi
Is this an authentic AP ?
Hi,I can buy this AP second-hand but it has no papers/box and I can only see a limited nr of photo's. The seller seems thrustworthy but he's not an AP expert. He doesn't know the model nr of the watch for instance (he also bought it second hand). It's a 39mm AP and from the pictures I'm almost sure it's a 15300ST.Wdyt?There seems to be one link missing. I think a new 15300ST comes with 23 links (and this one has only 22 links) ? Is it correct there should be one link more? But I have a 7inch wrist so this one will still fit I think? It's a G series AP, so this would make it a +- 2009 watch, right? Most important question: is this an authentic AP? To me, as a non-expert, only the clasp seems a little suspicious...Thanks in advance!
Is this watch real?
Anyone Good with Omegas can tell me if this watch is real? My Friend...err an acquaintance of mine is selling this watch, claims it is real but I am not to sure. The things that bother me is the little green ball on 8 (the ones that glow in the dark) fell off and now sits between 10 and 11....seems odd for a $5,000 watchAlso the watch is a Speedmaster but the Bracelet reads Seamaster ProfessionalThoughts?
How accurate is your SD43 ?
My SD43 has been simply amazing when it comes to keeping time. Since I got it in middle of December 2017, the watch hasn't lost or gained 1 sec.I don't use any apps...I just see the second-hand hitting 12 every time my iPhone clock changes minutes. That's how I set it over two months ago. That's just crazy accurate for a mechanical piece.I wear it everyday and it sits on my nightstand when I sleep. None of my other Rolex or Omega watches has been this accurate. Is it the new movement ?Or did I just get lucky ?I am curious to know what other SD43 are like when it comes to keeping time.
