Wore the 44 RG Grand Prix - Thoughts...
Dearest Members,As some of you know, I was the one who was on here, asking your opinions as to which watch to get...the 26470 RO (rose gold 42mm new with gold face and black dials) or the 26401 44 RG ceramic. I was having a dilemma...so one of my friends helped me out. He let me wear his RG Grand Prix (pic attached) for a few weeks. Here are my thoughts. When I first put it on, I immediately noticed how heavy and uncomfy it was...even more uncomfy than the 44RG. I have owned panerai's, ROO's, etc...all 44mm. My wrist, arm, and hand can easily handle 44mm, but this one was just too much. It could have been the carbon buttons or whatever, but it was the most uncomfortable watch I have ever tried on/worn. Leather strap on 5712/1a ?
The Patek Salon in London tell me this is not possible (i.e. to switch over to the strap and deployment from either a 5712G or a 5726). So we have the official line from Patek. Anyone tried it unofficially ?
Daytona up to daily wear (and tear)?
I love my SS Daytona, it was my grail watch for 20+ years. But I just got it back from RSC service and it's just so pristine and brand new looking that I'm kind of afraid to wear it. Which is stupid, because I could get hit by a bus tomorrow and it'd just be sitting in a safe. I really want to wear it and enjoy it, all the time, no matter what, and let the wear and tear tell it's tale. I do have other watches I can use for really heavy duty activities (surfing, fence building, engine rebuilds) but if I just want to go for it, can my Daytona take it?JCATT
