Bulova at Basel: Curves and Space
Bulova came to Baselworld 2016 packing a couple of new, interesting quartz chronographs that left quite an impression. Bulova is very much trying to reinvent themselves these days, looking back at their history of innovation (think Accutron and the world’s first televised ad), adding a new and exciting spark to their design direction. Though they had a lot show at Basel this year, we have two offerings to look at today; one taking a step forward and one a step into the past.Bulova CURVThough they dabble with mechanicals, Bulova mainly produces quartz movement watches. The brand became well known for its Accutron line, which contained the famous tuning fork movement, that lead the way for the quartz technology we have today. apparently i am a rolex AND omega guy
i always kinda thought that omega was the 'came in second' guy in the watch race being such a rolex devotee.....but i was with a few guys and we were discussing watches and my pals dad (80) mentions his omega he's had on his wrist for 30 yrs.....so he takes it off and hands it to me....and i get it.....i get the omega thing....solid, conservative but clean designs....but after learning a bit about movements, i actually think omega is busting a move for a move into competition with rolex with the twin axial thing....and actually as a lifelong competitive swimmer myself, omega is all over the place with references to sports timing....so heres my thinking....i do think we're gonna have another financial 'adjustment' and i think future adjustments actually are just markers for new 'financial normals'.....and i think that at the price, omega just may be a better place to put $ than rolex in a challenged financial market....im diversified re watches (rolex, omega and a tissot as a surf watch
Moon Watch Article
Hey All:I found this article about NASA and their choice of using the Omega Speedmasters for most of the trips to the moon..Seems as though they got picked because they were the best for the job...Makes sense to me (unliike most government decisions lately).Be safe..k4yk/watches/OmegaNAWCC.pdf
My Coke GMT Master II arrived and I need your thoughts
Please help me decide on this one. I paid $6,990, plus 3% credit card fee and about $50 shipping on this watch. The pictures on the website reflected that it had a T < 25 dial, but as you can see it has a SWISS service dial and since it is an E serial, this can't be right. Also, are the lugs over polished in your opinion? Thanks!
