Well-Done Double Retrograde From Pierre DeRoche: New Brand On The Scene
I have to applaud a new brand that releases relatively sober and legible timepieces. The Double Retrograde from the new Swiss watch brand Pierre DeRoche is an obvious "homage" to Gerald Genta, but well done nonetheless; making for a legible watch that strays from the norm.A retrograde watch is one that has a hand that moves along a liner arc. Once it reaches the end of that arc, it simply jumps back to the beginning position. This is as opposed to traditional cyclical nature of watch hands. Retrograde hands are often used to emulate gauge meters, but can serve a very good purpose when it comes to legibility. Being a new twist on analog time telling, a double retrograde would have two such retrograde hands. According the Pierre DeRoche double retrograde have one hand for the hours and another for the minutes. It maintains a traditional cyclical subsidiary dial for the seconds. The Double Retrograde is powered by a Dubois Depraz automatic mechanical movement (one of the fancier names in w
RO 15300 vs 15202. Which one to get at current prices?
Hey guys,On the hunt for the next watch, and I am sort of torn between these two.I love the blue dial, and the 39MM is the perfect fit for my wrists. Now the prices for the 15300 have gone quite high, and i'm not sure if they will stay there, but with the current prices for the 15300's I can't help but feel the 15202 is the way to go.A more modern AP which won't require servicing anytime soon, a really cool movement, and lastly also a watch that will more likely retain value I believe. Looking for input from you guys though! Thanks in advance
picture request side by side please
Hello all. I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I am looking to purchase a Planet Ocean 2500 in 42mm. I also am looking to acquire an SMP in the 41mm size. I have worn a 2264.5 for a few years but would love to see the two watches side by side to see a true comparison of the overall sizes relative to each other. Also, are the lug widths both 20mm on each? I would love to swap bracelets and straps between the two. What is the lug width of the 45 mm model of PO? I will thank you in advance for anh help you can provide. These are tough decisions comming up...
New 5205g-013 blue dial
Has anyone actually seen, in person, this new 5205 yet? I've seen the website renditions, but wonder how real-to-life they actually are? Case in point: I was very interested in the 5205g-010, until I actually tried one on (that's the one with the darker two-tone grey/blackish dial). I loved the watch, but at my age, could not distinguish the hands or hour markers, as they seemed to blend in with the dial. If that's the case with the new blue dial, I'll have to pass. But if the hands and hour markers really stand out, better than with the two grey models, as seen in the professionally advertised renditions, then I'm in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
5131R - another offer
You won't believe. You get another 5131R offer in Taiwan. I had not visited any Taiwan AD in last 6 years because I am loyalty to Boodles in last 8 years. Karls tells me to visit Taiwan AD to look at 5270 series. So I visited two ADs in Taiwan recently. Last week, I got a phone call to offer me a 5131R. I am so surprise about this. Only condition to do is that I have to buy 5271P and one Perpetual calendar.I have not decide what to do because I like boodles very much. However, Taiwan AD will not hold 5131R paper for two years. What will you decide If you were me?
