Montblanc TimeWriter 1 Metamorphosis Watch Transforms
There was a lot of excitement at Montblanc in Geneva for this watch. They only had one of them?at SIHH and it was in a case. Still a prototype but I got to check it out a bit. In a nutshell, you press down on a lever on the left side of the case and the watch dial magically transforms into something else. Not only does the look change, but more importantly the functions do as well. One face shows the time (regulator style with?retrograde minutes) and the date, while the second style is a chronograph. In the included video you can wait through most of it or skip ahead near the end when they discuss and show some rather funtastic special effects of the TimeWriter 1 Metamorphosis watch. You not only get a good idea of how it works, but of how complex it is. They put all this effort into the video and it isn't even in English - the bastards. The TimeWriter watches will be a growing collection from Montblanc magical workshop in Villeret. The plan is to give the young and eager watch makers t
Black leather on black steel and rare vintage Breitlings
So I'd been tossing around the idea of getting a leather band for the winter. Is it me or does anyone else notice a huge change in Breitling leather straps as of a few years ago? They used to be supple, perfectly stitched and the breitling markings were more deeply imprinted on the inside of the straps. Now, I find the new straps feel cheap and harsh. Well long story short, I found an NOS older black 22/18 strap and jumped on it. Quite pleased with the results. I also have to give a shout out to the service tech at NYC's Breitling boutique. A very nice gentleman who showed me some really amazing rare vintage Breitlings that he had in the service room. I'll post some photos below.
Planet Ocean 8500 rubber strap and deployant MSRP
Does anyone happen to know the MSRP for the rubber strap and deployant buckle for the 45mm 8500 PO? I know what they go for on ofrei, but might be in the area of some dealers next week and if any of them had the straps in stock I wanted to know what the price comparison would be. TIA!
Made the switch, Oyster Flex and Jubilee.
I finally got the Bergeon 7825 tweezers and made the switch for my Daytona to the Oyster Flex and the GMT to the super jubilee.I bought an extra link at the same time when I bought the super jubilee for a better fit. However I unfortunately went a tad big on the Oyster Flex with two EG size straps. If anyone wants to flip out for an EE size, I'm all in.20180223_220005-1024x1232.jpg
Rolex Strategy
If this has been discussed, I am sorry. I did a search, but was unable to find. I think that most of us will likely agree that Rolex is the king of marketing. With the current lack of sports models most specifically in the UK and the US, do you think this is part of their marketing? I have heard from many sources that AD's are not getting any new shipments, specifically for sports models, until after the new year. That seems odd to me. My guess would always be that they want to sell more watches. Or, maybe they want to drive more sales of the professional watches?Or, maybe they are looking to create scarcity in the market so that they can soon raise their prices?Or, maybe they simply are looking to become more exclusive so they are limiting their supply?Or, maybe they are just unable to keep up with demand?I know for a fact it has had an effect on me. The simple fact that a 114060 is seemingly so hard to get, makes me want to get one. Then again, I have always been a sucker for ma
