Maurice de Mauriac Summer 2011 Chronograph Modern Watches
Here is a little watch porn for you in the form of two new Maurice de Mauriac Chronograph Modern watch styles. I have covered the Chronograph Modern watches before but Maurice de Mauriac keeps coming out with upgrades and new styles. The first one here is a version of the Le Mans 53 in black with a case fitted alligator strap - really slick. Next is a stealthier version of the Chronograph Modern with a blue chronograph seconds hand and a cool new woven leather strap - much as was done by Bedat & Co.The Chronograph Modern models come in a variety of styles and sizes that are 39, 42, or 45mm wide. Part of the point of getting a Maurice de Mauriac watch is the customization involved and, ideally, you visit them in Z??rich to do so. Prices for these models are 3,650 Swiss Francs for the Le Mans version and 3,950 Swiss Francs for the version with the woven leather strap.
AP ROO 44 SS for a Rolex 218238?
I just bought my grail watch last month. It's a Rolex YG DD II 218238 with ivory dial. I haven't even worn it yet, but I'm already considering swapping it for the AP ROO 44 stainless with panda face. I love the AP. However, I find it a little uncomfortable on my wrist. My question is: do you think the AP 44 will go out of style? I trade up watch's frequently and I'm concerned the large size of the AP will make it unattractive to many in the future. My friends think I'm nuts for considering getting rid of the President for the AP. My wife thinks I have a sickness since as soon as I obtain a watch, I'm already thinking about the next one.
Your path to AP...
I'm curious what all of your paths to owning AP were. Mine were kind of backwards, as I had met a certain gentleman with extreme knowledge of swiss watches, and I am a specialist in another type of craftsmanship, antique Japanese swords and consult on behalf of collectors. We discussed the similarities between the two (differences being obvious, as one was meant to kill, and one was meant to find out how much time you had to kill) and I learned at the time about there existing a whole other world of swiss watches other than Rolex.Anyway this discussion inserted AP into my brain as something I'd have one day if I ever owned a fine timepiece (last item was some watch I found at 10 years old with a highly luminous digital dial... the kind that ... kills you I guess!). I lost it. And I have a Seiko given to me by my staff that went into a drawer of keepsakes and was never worn. Finally bought my ROO this year after finding the forum here and bouncing some questions around. And here I am.How
Pp 5712 rg
I saw another thread on the 5980/1R-001, and that got me thinking. I love the 5712 and I love the RG bracelet (I am not all that fond of the chrono Nautilus because I think the balance of the watch is lost because of the pushers). Wouldn't the combination of those two just be the best combo ever? I tried out my Photoshop skills, and besides the different shades of gold it looks quite good. I just thought I would share this. I sincerely hope PP decides to make this model. Enjoy
Do your AD's staff wear Rolex in the store?
I only visit two AD's, both local. But I have only seen staff wearing a Rolex on one occasion, and she was wearing an older reference Air-King.Just curious, do the staff at your AD's wear Rolex watches in the store? Thanks.
