Patek Philippe Watches Offer Great "Pick Up Line" In New Ad Campaign
Given the status that Patek Philippe holds in the watch community, I can safely hold them to a very high standard - even in their marketing. Starting in August of 2010, Patek Philippe will roll out a new advertising campaign for its womens watches. Watch advertising is crucially important because they make important value propositions to consumers, as well as communicate essential branding information that relates to how people perceive brands and luxury watches over all. Given that, I find it hilarious when I see an ad that makes me think about having a three-way.Which is exactly what Patek Philippe's new slogan (as presented here) sounds like a pick up line for. Not just any three-way, but an inter-generational one. "Hey mom, daughterdon't you agree that something truly precious holds its beauty forever? Can I interest you two in some Champagne?" Which in the ad is proceeded by the mother and daughter clutching hands while they giggle abruptly and exchange glances. Sure they'll have
Ernst Benz Releases The ChronoDiver Thinking It Is Being Innovative And Unique: It's Not
Ernst Benz is like an estranged cousin of Panerai with little bloodline connection. It makes a heap of really large watches with "instrumental" appeal, but unlike Panerai, the watches typically suffer from being appropriate without being very unique. Oh, and they are overpriced, in my opinion. The newest from Ernst Benz is the new ChronoDiver collection, with a name as dry as the watch themselves. There is actually nothing at all wrong with the watches. They are a pretty good emulation of a theme. That theme being the diving watch chronograph. The thing is, for the over $5,000 retail price, where is any character of innovation? You get a 47mm wide case, a number font that looks to be Ernst Benz-ish, and perhaps come concentric circle texturing on the dial. Otherwise, we've all seen this design hundreds of times before. So what gives? Ernst Benz did need a diving watch for their line up. Practically everyone does, but this effort just seems a bit rushed to ask such a price for such a sta
Colt Chronograph Bracelet
I'm looking for a replacement bracelet for my Colt Chrono, it shows a reference number on the bracelet of 861a but I cannot find this anywhere. What professional series bracelet would work?
Tudor BBB/rose
Thanks to a lightning fast transaction with fellow TRF member, Wembleyisgreen, I added a newly acquired Tudor to the stable today. Was received with the standard black strap, as well as a this nice brown leather one. (and a green NATO).Personally, I am a fan of the black/brown combos and already on the list for a TT black/brown GMT.
Chances to see a GMT coke at Basel
The GMT coke was my first Rolex in 1992 and sadly sold it a year later. I would love to own again a new GMT coke SS on non polished oyster bracelet.I know its been lot of speculation around it since last year but any serious thought to see again the GMT coke at Basel on march 23td? What are the chances to make it happen?Maybe some Basel insiders will read my thread.. who knows ;)
