Event Recap: Blancpain Watches At Tourbillon Store In San Francisco
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is an iconic watch. Don't believe me? Well, do a little research on Google and you should quickly find three key attributes justifying the icon status: 1) it's one of the original dive watches that one could take 100s of meters under water without fear of damage; 2) it's the first watch to include a unidirectional rotating bezel that allows quick timing of your dive; and 3) it's one of the first watches to include enough luminescent material on its dial and bezel to make it readable at diving depths or in murky waters. It is therefore not surprising that Blancpain owns some of the original patents around diving watches, and famous pioneer divers, such as Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his team, wore Blancpain when they helped popularize the sport in the ?early 1950's.However, while innovation alone would assure Blancpain its place in the annals of watchmaking, after all, dive watches are some of the most popular models (even today, when most dive watches hardly se
Newbie looking at Royal Oak
For my 3rd watch, I'm interested in the AP RO 15450- either the SS or RG model. For me there is a lot to like about the AP RO, the design (the SS model looks fantastic and I love the metal bracelet), the fact that it's rare, and most importantly (this will sound silly)- I love the back of the watch. I love the clear caseback- when I was a kid, I owned a translucent swatch, I thought it was an amazing thing to see the inside of a watch. Then when I saw my first Patek Calatrava, I was blown away at the clear caseback and the beauty of its movement. I've been obsessed with getting a watch with a clear caseback to showcase the beautiful movement and from what I've seen, the 3120 is gorgeous and the gold rotor is stunning. I love it. Mandatory pics... I'm really liking the 15450. Either SS or the RG with brown strap. So I'm looking into these watches and am planning to buy one and keep it for life. I've got a few questions about them.1) Seems like the metal bracelets on the RO are ju
Re: Calatrava - which one to buy?
About to buy myself a new Calatrava.Probably leaning towards yellow gold with a black strap. I've never had a gold watch before so I really like the idea of yellow gold on black.I've also never had a manual wound watch before. Only automatics, so I'm not sure if I should go for an auto or manual watch.Tossing up between the 5119J or 5120J or 5127J. Quite like the date on the 5127, but somehow the hobnail of the 5119/5120 just oozes class.I'm intending to wear this watch as much as I can. Will just buy a new leather strap if it gets worn out.Is there a way to know the date of manufacture from the Patek serial number?Anything else to watch out for when buying a new calatrava?

Received BLNR back from Dallas RSC and still broken
I had to send my year old BLNR in for service because the hour hand was badly misaligned...at the top of the hour it sat half way between the hour markers. There was a dent on the crown which my AD noted in the paperwork before sending in to Dallas. My wife believes she may have bumped it into the counter when she was wearing it and did not notice any issues at the time. I noticed the missaligment when I went to set it a few weeks later, not positive the ding is related but it is certainly possible.Rolex had it for 6 weeks and said it was fixed free of charge. All the paperwork notes for service is checking the movement and hands. It looked good in store when I picked it up, but a few hours later I noticed a slight misalignment. When I moved the hour hand I felt some play in terms of when I could get it to stop. I moved the hour hand around a few rotations and all of the sudden it stopped clicking between hour markers...it just freely spins. When I move the minute hand the ho
