A cherished one returns to the fold
This one returned to the collection on Monday and has been on my wrist ever since:This is a custom Speedy that I put together back in 2006 and was my second project watch (PW2). The movement came out of an early 80's beater given to me by a friend:Unfortunately I sold it in 2008 to help fund the Explorer II and have grieved ever since. Fortunately, the purchaser has graciously allowed me to have him back.My new LiquidMetal Planet Ocean and GMT IIc must be wondering what happened. They've sat on the winder since Monday. PW2? Modern it is, but which one
Recently I ran a current of threads in regards to getting a Patek Philippe dress watch.My choice was either a vintage or modern Calatrava. On reading what other members said, I have decided to go for a modern piece.I have been searching for a couple of months now, but prices here in the UK are a lot higher then in Europe and the USA and the choice is nowhere near as good either. I really envy our US members for the huge choice available.I can't make my mind up on whether to buy automatic or manual, date or no date!I have a maximum budget of approximately ��12,000My wrist size is 6 ? inch.Whatever I decide to get, it must be a complete set.I am setting a poll, to see if this helps me make a decision.Here are my choices1) Brand new from dealer a 5196J 37mm2) A 3998R 34mm from 2001 Patek service history not known.3) A 3998J f 34mm from 1991 with a full Patek service in 2013.4) Alternative Patek Philippe dress watch (please name)Thank you for taking the time to vote.

Which will show scratches easier. A PP Vs an AP?
Thinking of the Nautilus line vs the Royal Oak, and I just thought I would ask, since a lot of our members own or have owned both.Honestly just curious on which holds up better with scratches.Logic tells me that the brushed design on both should mean they would pretty much be the same with this matter.Do you find that one of the two holds up better, or perhaps shows the scratches less obviously?This is not my deciding factor for purchasing, just in case you were wondering.Thank in advance all!
