Watches NEWS
Which Watch Brand Spends the Most on Advertising?
Watch?brands spent almost half a billion dollars on advertising in the U.S in 2013. The total was $492.68 million: a record high, and up 23.3 percent from the 2012 total. That figure comes from Kantar Media, which each year compiles estimates of ad spending for a range of different products. The figures for 2013 signal that the U.S. watch market is still growing, especially as Swiss luxury brands turn their sights back from China to this country.Last year was the fourth year in a row of growth in U.S. watch advertising. Sixty-nine brands spent more than $1 million on ads, a new record. To reach last year's top 25, a watch company had to spend $4.66 million. That's 28 percent more than it took to make the list in 2012.?Rolex continued to hold its spot at the top of the list. The brand has been number one since 2000, when it dethroned Timex. Last year, it spent $61.48 million, making it the first brand ever to exceed $60 million. Rolex beat its 2012 record of $52.14 million by 17.9 perce
Rado HyperChrome Automatic Watches
"HyperChrome" sounds like a pretty cool name if you ask me. That could be the name a neat video game or anime TV show. But no, for 2012 the HyperChrome is going to be a new collection of watches from Rado. In this article I am debuting two of the new HyperChrome watches, but according to Rado there will be about 27 varieties this year alone! The HyperChrome asserts Rado's key strength as a producer of quality ceramic watches. Available in black and white ceramic variants, Rado uses some sophisticated technology to make nicely formed ceramic parts. The case for example is a monocoque (single) piece, with hardened steel sidings. Hardness rating for them is 1,250 Vickers. It comes in a few styles and sizes for both men and women.Rado has learned over the last few years that many of its key designs (many thematically unchanged since the 1980s) are a bit too distinct for the modern mass market. I think that a lot of their core pieces will stick around, but they are really working on spicing
Casio G-Shock G-Rescue G7900 Cold Resistant Watches
Here is a cool set of new Casio G-Shock watches that are coming very soon. And they are pretty economical to bat. Aside from new styling that is still utterly "G-Shock," the G-Rescue G7900 series of watches is specially made to be very cold resistant. They will survive negative four (- 4) degrees Fahrenheit. That is like like negative what in Celsius? I don't know, I am an American - we aren't expected to know these things. If you want a blank stare from me, trying explaining the size of something in centimeters. Millimeters I am OK with though.. gonna know that for watch case sizes! The G-Rescue watches apparently have the largest pushers ever on a Casio G-Shock watch. Which makes sense if you need to operate them wearing layers of arctic cold gloves. Actually, I don't even think the pushers are large enough for gloves that bit, but OK for most gloves. There are the four case side buttons and the "G" button for the screen backlight. The case of the watch is maybe a bit larger that stan
Can anyone confirm there were 3 different Arabic dial versions on the Super Avenger 1
I am trying to buy a Super Avenger and it is very difficult because there are fakes that really look about 99% there. I am having trouble telling the difference between fakes and real SAs. If I could see the movement it would be easy but most sellers don't do this. Can anyone confirm there were three different dials? And better yet, any ideas on approximately when they changes to these dials? 1) I'm pretty sure this was the first Super Avenger, with the deep cuts and bigger Breitling logo, chrome surround on the DW, and AUTOMATIC written over the 6 o'clock subdial. 2) This one has cuts in 7, 8, 10, and 11. Maybe this is the second version?3) 2) This one has smaller Breitling logo and cuts into the 10 and 11 but not the 8. I have a feeling this is the newest version. The reason I'm asking is, prices are all over the map for Super Avengers. It doesn't make sense for me to buy one that is 13 years old if there is one that is 3 years old for the same price. I'm really worried about buying a
