14th International Chronometry Congress Considers Time and Sport: Technological and Human Challenges
The 14th International Chronometry Congress of the Swiss Chronometry Society meets September 28-29 at the Salle Stravinsk in Montreux, Switzerland. This year’s theme is “Time and Sport: Technological and Human Challenges”. During the Congress, about twenty lectures will be presented to over 500 watchmakers, technicians, engineers and professionals. Selected presentations will summarize the latest technological innovations regarding chronometry. Others will allow participants to enter an athlete's mind by questioning his relationship with time. Introducing: The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar
Vacheron Constantin is showcasing updates and additions to its Overseas line this year, and so far we've seen new case shapes, new models (including one of our favorites, the Overseas Ultra Thin) and here we have a new perpetual calendar in the Overseas line as well.  This isn't the first time that Vacheron has done a perpetual calendar in the Overseas line – in previous years, we've seen (for instance) an Overseas Perpetual Calendar Chronograph.  However, this new model is a standalone perpetual calendar, and the production of a very thin, elegant perpetual calendar in the Overseas line seems part of a shift overall in the overseas collection towards the elegant side of sports/elegant watchmaking – and a welcome one. 1 OF 3 Well for one, it’s not a chronograph. Just a “plain old” perpetual calendar. The watch uses a caliber 1120 QP movement which is extremely thin (4.05 mm) and does not need to be adjusted until 2100. A

So, a few changes to the AP collection:- The 57th Street has gone to a new home, a lovely gentleman who was a pleasure to deal with. - The Novelty Rose Gold has gone to a different home, again a very nice chap who was also a pleasure to deal with. - The Legacy has made its way to yet another abode, the beast will be missed!I have some interesting bits on order, if AP ever decide to confirm, but in the meantime, I treated myself to this:
