One Million Dollar Watches: Hublot Big Bang UNICO Haute Joaillerie Collection
Everybody likes to receive a nice present to mark a special occasion. For my birthday, I got a new razor. For the 10th birthday of the Hublot Big Bang, the Nyon-based manufacture is giving you, the paying public, a little gift in the form of the Hublot Big Bang Unico Haute Joaillerie Collection. If you happen to have $1,000,000 burning a hole in your pocket, you are cordially invited to purchase one of Hublot's ten anniversary creations, marking the release of the most significant watch the brand has ever produced.Love it or hate it (and there are few models that have so many passionate critics in each camp), the Hublot Big Bang is a staple in the watch world. So iconic is its shape, Hublot felt comfortable using it as a canvas for their latest madcap notions. New materials, new designs, new adornmentsThey all find their way onto the Hublot Big Bang. And this time, Hublot have pulled out all the stops to catch your attention. Or, if the wearer of one of these unique pieces is standing
Is that shark? OMG ... it's a Great White!
I am wearing one of my favorite recent acquisitions today, a 2538.20. I lusted for this watch for about 10 years. Picked it up about 6 weeks ago in 95% condition ($1700 shipped ). Love it!Is it me -- or does it have an extra thick case (and weighty feel) versus other 300M Seamasters.

Thoughts on Patek 5980 Nautilus Chrono?
Ok, I'm not a rich guy, but I do have just enough for a 5980 (pics are not of me). I have a few steel Rolexes too. I know people say Don't buy a watch as an investment; buy it because you like it but in my situation, if this watch will not hold it's current value (apprx $39,000 used) or appreciate slightly, I just cannot afford to buy it. Here are the factors that are floating around in my mind about this watch: It was one of two watches to feature Patek's new chronograph movement (along with the 5960p).It's now discontinued. Some don't consider Nautilus' a true Patek. Patek sports watches may increase in popularity as time progresses, due to their bulkier dimensions, like Rolex sports watches? My questions: Will the 5980 hold it's current $39,000 value and maybe even appreciate? Will it gain popularity? Blue or black dial?
Scratched dial on new Patek
Bought a Patek 5167 last week from my local AD. It was brand new and sealed fresh from the factory.Over the weekend I noticed a very faint but long scratch on the dial. It's only visible from certain angles and under very strong light. It runs from near the 4/5 o'clock hour markers all the way up through the last P in PHILIPPE and finishes near the 12 o'clock marker.I'm just wondering what I should do. Whether I should return the watch or just get used to it. I don't really want the watch to be gone away for a long time and I definatly don't want PP to polish or scratch the case or anything like that. I've had small, faint scratches on a couple of Rolex dials which never bothered me so just wondering what you guys would do in my boots please. Here's a couple of photos. It was very difficult to photograph under a magnifying glass and I could only capture parts of the scratch. Thanks for looking.
