Introducing the Defakto Struktur
There are a few brands out there whose every release excites us. Whether it's due to infrequency (thus making every release a big deal) or sheer style, we always look forward to their releases. Defakto is one such brand for… well, both reasons actually. They release one maybe two watches a year, and though they tend to be subtly different than the last, are always a delight to view. Recently, they released their "modular" series (one of which I am wearing while writing this, and I can say without a doubt it's their best to date… but more on that in a few weeks) and just today they announced another new line, the Struktur.Following up their first quartz watch, the Detail, the Strukur utilizes the same 40mm x 6.6mm thin case, but introduces something totally new to the Defakto catalog; 3-hands. Yes, to this point, Defakto, who made a name for themselves with one-handed watches, had yet to produce a 3-hander. The Struktur does so in an elegant manner, keeping true to the moder
One Year After The Death of Gerald Genta, We Learn More About Him Than Ever Before
One year ago today, the world of horology lost its greatest designer - Gerald Genta.? Responsible for more iconic designs than any other man in the history of timepieces, his trademark aesthetics are ingrained in countless watches we see, and speak of every single day.In an incredibly detailed and revealing interview just published via Greek watch blog VeryImportantWatches, Mr. Genta opens up about his earliest days - when he was getting paid 15 CHF to sell designs to American brands and Swiss suppliers - to how he designed the Royal Oak in a single night.? He mentions many of his less well-known work, like that of his Cellini for Rolex, a limited edition Seiko, oh, and a digital watch for Timex that was made in a very limited run of just 30,000,000 watches.? The article is not available online, so you must download a PDF.? This is an article you need to read if you have an interest in 20th century watches, design, or Genta himself.? Ap roo-rgrc
Hi everyone, I'm from Singapore and this is my first post.I just bought the AP ROO RGRC last week from the local AP dealer and I love it to death. This is my 3rd AP ROO. I had the themes(got rid of it), bumble bee and now the RGRC. I have always wanted the RGRC and finally have it on my hands now. :) AP has done a wonderful job with the updated version, love the darker face and gold rings around the subchronos. I also went down to the AP svc centre and changed to the hornback leather strap in rose gold stitching. I think it's an upgrade thats worth every cent. Sorry but I'm just not a big fan of the rubber strap on the rose gold at least.
Forgot all about my Speedy, please forgive me....
I must confess I've been all about vintage Rolex sports models lately and mostly only wearing dive watches. I opened up my watch box and looked at my 3572.50 Speedy Pro today and thought its been a while since I even wound this thing, let alone worn it. So I took it out, rubbed some polywatch on the crystal, used a microfiber towel to wipe down the caseback and lugs and wound her up. After just taking a thorough look at it, glaring into the beautiful 1863 movement and remembering all the history behind it. I quickly fell back in love. I decided with the 3572.50 being discontinued and having both the perfect hesalite crystal and the sapphire caseback I plan on keeping this watch forever and a .321 will have to just join in. Well I hope you guys forgive my foolishness of forgetting about wearing this legendary watch, but know its already back in rotation. ~DavidMKII
