San FranciscoSeptember 16, 2015. Renowned watch brand, Breguet and its President & CEO, Mr. Marc A. Question about historical pricing of the Royal Oak on the pre-owned market
Looking to purchase a 15400 on the pre-owned market around the $12k range, and my question is should I expect a hit if I decide to sell within 1, 2, 3...years from now?Historically, have the prices of the Royal Oak continued to rise on the pre-owned market? What was the price 5, 10 years ago?I ask because I've seen the value of certain brands (Hublot, Panerai, Glashutte Original) decrease with time as their popularity waned, as compared to a stalwart like Rolex. Can I expect AP to follow Rolex or Panerai, in terms of aftermarket value over time?
2018 Rolex Submariner with Tungsten Carbide Case and bracelet?
Tungsten has a rating of 9 on the Mohs scale. It is very difficult to machine. Some are doing it though in making watches, rings, and jewelry.I wonder if Rolex would consider this for a Submariner? It is virtually scratch proof and it is my understanding that it weighs about the same as gold.Using Tungsten would ensure the watch would not get all beat up -- ever. This might not be so good for a company that probably wants their products to be somewhat consumable in that they show signs of wear and tear and eventually a Rolex owner might say This one is looking too beat up. Time to get a new one.In my opinion, Tungsten would be an amazing step forward in Rolex case and bracelet construction. But I doubt we will see it anytime soon.
Stolen Rolex Explorer II
I'm not sure where to post this, so I'm posting here in the general discussion area. If I should move the thread please let me know.I'm a former Naval Aviator, and wore a GMT Master for 8 years when I flew F-14s. That watch was stolen in New Orleans in 2004. I later bought a an Explorer II, but I missed having the rotating bezel feature. Thanks to this forum, I ended up finding the parts to convert that watch. Well, 3 months later it was stolen. So there is a black dial 1999/2000 Explorer II with a GMT Master II Coke Bezel out there somewhere right now. It might be the only one in existence. I'm wondering how the person who stole it could even fence it, given the oddity of the dial and bezel combo. If anyone here sees a watch like that, please PM me.
Insurance in The Netherlands
Hi Folks, any recommendations for specialist insurance for jewellery in The Netherlands that covers you in the home and travelling in Europe against the usual damage and theft? The usual household companies are no good as they are for normal household and a few specified high value items. I have general household insurance, I need a specialist jewellery only insurance. The Dutch Association of Insurers gave me a list of all its members, but it's beyond me to go through all these telephoning them as most are just for general household insurance.
