Rolex Explorer 2 Watch For 2011
For 2011 Rolex offers a new Explorer 2 to follow up last year's new Explorer. While the Explorer was bumped up to 39mm last year, the Explorer 2 is the Rolex sport watch with a modern size of 42mm in width. That is 2mm larger than the Submariner, and it likely wears better than the 43mm wide Submariner Deep Sea. Also new is the return of the orange GMT hand in addition to the Maxi-dial like size of the hands and hour indicators. In a 42mm wide case, the Explorer 2 is in 904L steel with a mix of polished and brushed surfaces. While known for its white dial, the Explorer 2 now comes with a black dialed version as is traditional for the line - both in lacquer. Contrast on the dial on both models remains excellent, with the signature large orange GMT hand remaining on the dial. Both dials feature "Chromalight" luminant. The hands are all in white gold. 5980/1A on band?
Love the 5980R, however I am afraid the RG isn't suitable to wear daily for work. Thus the alternative leaves me with the SS 5980 however that is only available on bracelet and I much prefer the leather band. I presume that I can swap a leather band for the bracelet (like on the 5726). Does anyone have pictures of the 5980/1A on band?If possible, would I then just order the new band and deployment from an AD or is there a better route to go? Have to imagine the band and deployment won't be cheap. Thanks in advance!
Bored in traffic...beautiful sunny day...hulk on = photos
Thought to share some photos I took this morning while waiting in the traffic lights. Love the hulk, it is very photogenic
New Explorer
Hello all. My wife recently purchased a new Rolex Explorer 1 from an AD in NY. The watch is beautiful and has yet to leave my wrist. After doing some research I have a few questions to ask about the serial number as well as the Lume. My serial number starts with the letter Q, when I looked at various internet sites they mentioned that Rolex has never used the letter Q to start their number sequence. My other question is the Lume, it is advertised as being blue but when I look at it, it seems more green than blue. Thanks in advance for all your help in helping me to answer these questions.
