Watches NEWS
Hands-on with the Mido Baroncelli Heritage
For years, Swatch Group focused Mido's efforts primarily on Latin America and Asia, two regions where the brand has done exceptionally well. Unfortunately, the brand doesn’t share the same awareness in the States, which I've always found strange given the size of Tissot's (also a Swatch Group brand) American presence. That’s about to change. We learned this year that Swatch Group is now making a concentrated effort to push the brand in America. For lovers of well-priced, solidly-made wristwatches, this is exciting news.Last month we introduced the Baroncelli Heritage, a vintage-inspired extension of Mido's mainstay Baroncelli range. Handsome, classically styled with enough of a twist, and surprisingly tempered in size, the Baroncelli Heritage looked like an obvious win for the brand. And though Mido's marketing team focused primarily on the thinness of the watch (an impressive 6.95mm), I was more taken with its aesthetics. For Baselworld, Mido released an additional two var
It was my destiny to own one...
Greetings TRF,I'll keep it short: ever since I bought, enjoyed and sold my SMP I must admit I had the feeling I would get another Omega in my collection someday! The watch I parted with, although I really liked it, wasn't quite meant for me anymore given the horological path I took with all those smaller and vintage watches and since I had other timepieces in mind when I sold it I cannot say it was something I didn't think about or that I really regret, however, the whole experience did make me like the brand even more since I now know that its watches, the vintage as well as the new ones, are as tough, reliable and overall amazing as they're beautiful!I must admit I kept an eye open for a model that I would be able to enjoy to the fullest but I cannot say I had the intention of adding anything to my collection since I purchased a few watches not so long ago. How did that happen? I can barely explain it myself but I can definitely get to this conclusion: it was my destiny to own one...
Having dial replaced... will the process affect the movement's accuracy???
Hello everyone,I have a Mid Size SMP ref: 2551.80.00, calibre 1120.I had it serviced back in Oct 2011 and had a new dial installed. As it turns out the application of the luminous material applied to indices 12, 6 & 9 is not as thick as the rest resulting in a weaker glow, not as intense. Long story short, Swatch Group Canada, although states that it is within Omega quality control standards, will replace the dial free of charge. Here is my main question, right now the accuracy is excellent... +/- 0sec on my wrist and dial up and only +/- a few seconds in all other positions 24hrs. Will taking apart my SMP by Swatch Group to replace the dial affect the accuracy of the movement in any way or will they have to regulate it again? Thanks for the advice.
Suzy - is this what you're after? (kidding!)
