Remembering General Norman Schwarzkopf & His Watches
"I always wore two watches during the [Gulf] war. The one on my left arm was set on Saudi Arabian time and the Seiko on my right arm was set on Eastern Standard Time. That way I could quickly glance at my watches and instantly know the time in both Saudi Arabia and Washington, D.C. Sincerely, H. Norman Schwarzkopf General, U.S. Army, Retired." Words from recently departed General Norman Schwarzkopf in a letter to the Antiquorum auction house in the late 1990s when he donated one his watches for a charity auction. The watch was a Seiko SKX009 diver and was on his wrist for at least the entirety of the early 1990s Gulf War. According to the letter and many images from the time, General Norman Schwarzkopf indeed "double wristed it" with a watch on each wrist. Mark of a true watch guy? At auction, the Seiko which can be purchased new for about $200 today went for $11,000.Four star generals in the US military are quite rare but "Stormin' Norman" was among them. Had no idea about the AP extended warranty!
Only through the forum did I stumble upon a thread that spoke about the AP warranty. One post mentioned registering online and getting an extended warranty, which I had no idea about. I simply logged on, created an account, which took 2 minutes, and now I have an extended warranty until 2022. Funny thing is the big pitch from all the ADs were that yes, I might be paying a bit more through them but it's the only way to get a full 5 year warranty. So incase any others might be out there like me that were deceived, just don't know about this or just have not bothered to do so, it's absolutely worthwhile. Just downright deceptive of the ADs to do that.
Pam564
I stopped by a mall boutique while on vacation and saw a small selection of Panerai watches. Admittedly I never really cared for Panerai, however seeing them in person absolutely changed that for me. I tried on and looked at the PAM564 and I loved it. The titanium case/bezel, the in house movement, and it fit my larger wrists absolutely perfectly. I'm truly enamored of it.I am very strongly considering picking it up but I wanted to see if anyone here owns one, and what your thoughts on it after the honeymoon period. Thanks!
PAM535 v PAM351 v PAM233
Went to the local AD to check out some Panerais. After selling my 312 which I found too too heavy, I thought I would check out the PAM535. It's a beauty. I also checked out the PAM351 and the PAM233. Both beautiful pieces but not sure if the 44m is for me though.Pics attached. Which one suits me??
Countdown clock
Someone needs to build a working countdown watch to Basel. Maybe using creative mages like the recent leak of the new submariner.
