Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Large Date Moon-Phases
Girard-Perregaux reveals the complexity behind the dial, adding a level of mechanical involvement to an already dramatic timepiece. The movement's wheels and levers co-star with the large date and moon-phase displays to increase appreciation of the intricate inner engine.Too often, the fascinating interplay of components that power timepiece displays is hidden behind a dial. Girard-Perregaux draws the curtain back with a dial fashioned from clear, tinted sapphire. The result is a smoked-glass effect that reveals the caliber beneath and that shows off the applied Art Deco hour markers to great effect. The smoked sapphire dial highlights the displays while leaving the movement visible for all to see. Focusing front and center, the large date and moon-phase displays grab your attention. Like most big-dates, this one places the digits on two separate disks. Girard-Perregaux uses some clever engineering to minimize the two level effect that often plagues such displays. One disk is cle

Picked up a Navitimer!
Well, after a few months of deliberation - I completely did the unexpected! A little back story here... For a while now, I've been looking at the Rolex Explorer II (42mm) and finally decided it was time to pick it up.I walked into my local AD, and had the Explorer II on my wrist ready to go. Something seemed off to me, it just wasn't sitting right on my wrist. So I waltzed over to the Breitling section, and tried on the Navitimer - and it just felt perfect to me. 24 Hours in, absolutely loving my purchase. This isn't to say I won't pick up a Rolex down the road - but there was something about this watch that I just had to have! What do you guys think?
what to do...
thank you for your knowledgeable answers. now i can face the next challenge. do i buy brand new bond seamaster blue coaxial 41mm or get the PO preowned (2005). the PO is on strap which i will get rid of immediately and buy a braclet (which will cost additional). will this still be feasible?i ok with buying both brand new and preowned. but in this case which one? i want to use this for daily beater and some salt water diving. i have never bought an omega before. if i choose to go preowned. what do i need to check for authenticity. is there something like a laser etched crown, Where can i find the serial number?
Nautilus 5712 vs Calatrava 5227G
Hi, newbie here and to watches in general. I only got one watch, a Rolex Datejust 41, which I chose over a Submariner at the time I bought it, and now to which I am fond of. Now here goes the time to consider what I'm gonna buy myself next. I went to a local AD without knowing anything about PP and fell in love with the Calatrava 5227G. But then of course I went online, and almost universally people recommend the 5711. I tried to look and get on waiting lists and figured I got a better chance on the 5712 so now I'm on the waiting list for that (8-12 mos from an AD in the US)Which now puts me at asking what I should be buying - the 5227G is pure love while the 5712 is a safe choice. I'm 31yo, self-employed with my share of attending important functions and meetings, and I plan to make this watch an all-rounder, wearing it anywhere from an important meeting to strolling at the mall. I realize the 5227G is more closer to the PP brand, and somehow that is an upside for me. Any thoughts?Sen
