Ulysse Nardin Imperial Blue Offers Westminster Chimes and Flying Tourbillon
Ulysse Nardin has a notable history in chiming watches, from its Gold Medal-winning minute-repeater chronograph at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair to modern timepieces such as last year’s Stranger. At Baselworld 2014, Ulysse Nardin introduced its latest haut-de-gamme chiming watch, the Imperial Blue. The Ulysse Nardin Imperial Blue boasts not only a Grand Sonnerie Westminster Carillon which rings out four notes (“Mi-Do-Re-Sol”) for each passing hour and chimes the hours, quarter hours and minutes on demand but also a flying tourbillon with an eye-catching, blue sapphire bridge.A Grand Sonnerie function, which dates back to around 1300, is a rarity in a modern wristwatch, with only about a half-dozen manufacturers producing them, including Ulysse Nardin. It differs from a minute repeater in that the latter only chimes the time when it is activated by the wearer, whereas the former will also sound the time each quarter hour on its own.Among the technical challeng
Thomas Prescher Triple Axis Tourbillon Regulator Watch
So many axes! Triple the tourbillon fun with Thomas Prescher's ultra complex and hard to make Triple Axis Tourbillon Regulator watch. These timepieces are quite cool to watch in action and fun to wear. But sort of an "I buy Rolls Royce car for each person in the house keeping staff" type of fun. Pretty much Oprah and a handful of other people in the world can give Mr. Prescher a serious call to talk about having him make one for them. Prices all start at about $500,000 (and it comes in gold. white gold, or platinum - one for him, her, and the live-in watch butler).Read my article on the Thomas Prescher Triple Axis Tourbillon Regulator watch at Haute Living here.
It's Tuesday So It Must Be The EOT !
Hi all : The newest and most complicated watch I'ver owned is in house. Thanks to all for their kind comments & advise to get to this point. This watch at first glance can easily be overlooked but the more time you spend with it and the hefty manual, you understand the brillance behind it. To be perfectly honest, I bought it purely on asthetics, love the 42MM case and the wonderfully colored cream dial. I love the thinness of the case to house such an epic movement and love the fact it has a open case back to show the breathtakingly decorated rotor. Enough wax-poetic. Here are the pics. Too big?
Drove an hour out of the way to try some ROO's on in Dallas, but with all the plastic it's kind of hard to tell the fit. Guess I'll just have to buy one and try it out. What do you guys think?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362035078.340343.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1362035095.985797.jpgWrist is 6.5 My 15400 fits fine although I would trade it for a Jumbo.
