Letter From The Editor: Has The Term 'In-House Movement' Become Obsolete?
One of the first things you learn to do when you become a well-trained watch enthusiast is to say, when you first look at a watch, “yes, but is it an in-house movement?” Arguments about what the term means, about whether any given movement should be called in-house, and whether it is any help at all to worry about it, have been going on for as long as I can remember, and I can remember arguing about it on Usenet Newsgroups in the 1990s. It is at first glance – it seems at first glance – a great way to tell the good from the merely okay. If a watchmaking firm makes its own movements, that says something, the thinking goes: a greater commitment to craft; more distinctive design; a more exclusive (whatever that means) product. But the longer you look at it the more the idea starts to seem a lot more slippery, and a lot less helpful, than it did at first. 1 OF 5 First of all, what does it actually tell you about the level of craft, degree of mechanical

Need help with Valuation
Hi Guys,Back in '05 I bought my first nice watch, and it was a Breitling. Well, I have sizably increased my collection and it is time to let some go. The Breitling is one of them. It just does not get worn anymore and I would like for someone else to enjoy it. My only issue is I don't know how much to ask for it. It is a Navitimer with the crown on the left side. They were a limited edition of 1000.I have seen prices as high as $5200 but I think that is too high. They do not come up very frequently so it is hard to gauge what fair value is so I am looking to the experts here.I have all the B&P that came as new. Thanks you all for your help.
Aqua Terra or SMP??
Hello,Im seriously considering selling the Aqua Terra 2500 i have, the white dial i have ordered is has taken a long time to arrive, and honestly, im starting the hate the way this watch looks. Its a dress watch, which looks wrong with jeans or sportswear. In my opinion, a watch has to be recognized when worn on one's wrist, and the Aqua Terra is constantly mistaken for a Rolex Datejust, something which gets on my nerve Almost a knockoff of that. However, I think that the SMP is a 'true' Omega model that cannot be mistaken for non-other, especially the blue Bond version 2221.80.00.If I sell my AT 2500 co-axial, i can only afford to get the Blue SMP used, and in quartz.Would an SMP be worth more with regards to 'pedigree' and more a an omega than the Aqua Terra? I would really be grateful to any opinion that can help me decide.BTW, Im a 'one watch' type of guy.
