Watches NEWS
New to AP thoughts
I was in Vegas the past few days and I always make my rounds to some of the many watch stores at the various Hotels. One watch I have not seen in the flesh was Audemars Piguet. So we went to the Shops at Crystals in the Aria Hotel/Casino. Now I have wanted the new Ceramic Daytona 116500 but waiting to get one soon will be next to impossible. So I started looking at other brands and the AP 62320ST.00.1220ST.01 white dial caught my eye. It is one beautiful piece and I want to buy it. My questions to you all are; What makes the AP worth almost double the price of the Daytona, both in stainless? Would you buy new from Boutique or from trusted seller? Because of the price is it a good everyday watch? SS flies under the radar, right now I have a TT DJII and a 16710 GMT II. Thanks for the help, I am new to AP and do not know a lot of the brand. I will definitely read up on it. I am looking at the chronograph model but the time/date model was nice too. They only had the white dial chrono, and t
Reflections of a Rolex to AP convert
Over the years, if Rolex made it, I owned it. As in probably a dozen different models mostly in the SS sport line. As a younger man, to me it represented the pinnacle of prestige. Rolex is oh so awesome at marketing. In the last few years I have acquired a taste for something different, not in small part due to the fact that it seemed that every schmo out there sporting a Submariner or a 20 year old Date Just with an awful after-market diamond bezel thinks they are big time. You can sense it in some (disclaimer....not all) on the various Rolex forums. It's the look at me, look at my car, obnoxious new money (or not) mentality. So long story short....I recently picked up a new AP Diver. I wear it every day. It's heavy. That took a bit of getting used to. The finish and craftsmanship are world class. The movement is a work of art. It's a consistent +5 seconds per day which, although not thrilled, I can live with until serviced for my 3rd year additional warranty. I think what I like best
I think that my Diver is covered for options
Back when Panerai wasn't very well known and I was in love with the brand. I went a little overboard on straps. I had boxes with just about every permutation imaginable. I've been a little more restrained with my AP Diver. Many Thanks to YYZPAM for helping out.Bracelet on the watch and Left to right:AP OEM Rubber Strap, AP OEM Survivor Strap, AP OEM Black Hornback on the Black Survivor Buckle. I think that should do it?
Speedy 3570.50 or 3573.50?
I have read quite a bit about the history of the Speedmaster Pro. Further, I understand the 3570.50 is more traditional from a historical aspect. That said, I am torn between the two models as the ability to see the movement intrigues me as well. Please share your thoughts of which model you think I should go with. And yes I understand that in the end, I have to make the decision but basically - what would you do?
Daytona Bezel color
In how many colors are available the ceramic bezel of the Daytona 116500 manufactured? Only black and bright chrome? Do you think it will have better resale value than the 116520? By the way the 116520 stopped manufacturing? Thanks guys.
