Ulysse Nardin Announces New Proprietary Silicon Anchor Escapement
Creating a proprietary escapement is perhaps the ultimate challenge for all watchmakers, regardless of whether we are speaking about a craftsman working alone or about an entire company producing thousands or hundreds of thousands of watches. The escapement is the arrangement of components responsible for transferring the energy coming from the mainspring barrel through the going train (the series of wheels linked to the mainspring barrel) onto the balance wheel. In other words, the escapement plays a major role in dividing each "beat" into equal doses, as every "tick" of the escapement releases only a small amount of energy from the mainspring. Ulysse Nardin?has? announced a new escapement design - a hugely impressive achievement that greatly relies on the company's extensive know-how in crafting silicon.[youtube youtubewatches-dealer/watch?v=Nu5Xe51Q_oE]Before we discuss this new design which the brand likes to refer to as a "flying anchor escapement," we should first obtain a better
Innovative mixtures of materials of Porsche Design watch
Innovative mixtures of materials, The Flat Six collection acquires a particular dynamism in a new black PVD-coated case. Physical vapor deposition process ensures that the Watch has a particularly resistant to scratch the surface and provides lasting protection against oxidation. Corresponded to a black rubber strap, with a black bezel and sporting Dial of subtle red accents, the black version of the integrated chronograph skilfully purists of the philosophy of Porsche Design. During this time, the version of the chronograph incorporating elements of gold radiates elegance while retaining its sporting references: its bezel, winding Crown and indices to create a fascinating contrast to the case of black PVD-coated stainless steel with its black rubber bracelet perfectly integrated. The hand of second orange highlights this deliberate gesture to create a break in style.
Technical, aesthetic, mixed with new materials and colors lend the latest models of automatic winding a flat Six inf
New Aqua Terra GMT announced...
...along with the GMT calibre for the cal. 8XXX range. Perpetuelle were among the first to report itNot sure if I'm sold on the design of this one, I was hoping they would utilise a rotating 24hr bezel like on the Aqua Terra Chrono GMT. This reminds me of the most recent Seamaster Pro 300m GMT, I just think having the 24hr markers on the dial makes it a little busy. Anyway, it's a 43mm case, will be sure to catch some attention, and I'm certain it will be the first of many GMT watches Omega will produce with this new cal. 8605All the best,Chris
PP Pricing
Does anyone else suspect that PP raised their prices so they could allow the ADs to offer discounts that rival grey market discounts, potentially decimating the grey market? Am I off base on this?
State of the collection and advice on a trade?
All,Been reasonably happy with the current collection - the YM from 2017 being my favorite - love the bit of bling!Thinking about a possible trade. My trusty datejust has has slept in it's box for 2 years after a service and I simply don't wear it anymore. The Explorer 2 has also seen little wrist time over the last year or so.Been thinking about trading the Exp & DJ for either a DJ41, smooth bezel, blue dial, oyster bracelet or a Milgauss z Blue. The power reserve and date appeal on the DJ but can't make up for that lovely blue dial & lightning bolt! What do you guys think - trade or not - if so, DJ or MG? CheersChrissieboy
