Tourbillion watch online auction
Chrono24, in association with their partner Auctionata (both in Germany), will feature a collection of exclusively tourbillon watches next month via a live online-only auction called "The Fascination of Tourbillon - Exclusive Watches." There will be twenty five lots, including Lot Number 10 which consists of five Glashtte Original Tourbillons that marked their 500 Year Anniversary. The online auction is November 8th, 2013 and has some interesting values. What is interesting is that most of the watches have a estimate ceiling price of just 30,000 Euros (pretty good for a Swiss tourbillon). There is a chance, you may have never heard of Chrono24 or Auctionata. Chrono24 is a leading online global marketplace for buyers and sellers of watches. The Chrono24 web site connects buyers and sellers and is a sort of eBay alternative that seeks to better facilitate auctions for high-end items. Sellers list watches and buyers can contact them through the website. It is a great concept, and listing
On The Media's TLDR Explains Swatch Internet Time
Back in 1998, Swatch tried no small task: to fundamentally change how we track time around the world. The idea was called ".beat time" and "internet time," and was supposed to simplify communicating across the world in the age of the internet by doing away with timezones and small units like seconds, instead dividing the day into 1000 event units. The experiment has been largely forgotten, but NPR's blog and podcast TLDR decided to take a closer look into why .beat time was born in the first place and why we're not all wearing .beat watches today. This is definitely worth a read and a listen. The basics are pretty straightforward: with internet time, the only units are "beats" and there are 1000 even beats in one day. This makes each beat a little shorter than a minute and a half (1 minute 26.4 seconds to be precise). They record time after midnight, so the @950 time shown on the watch above is equivalent to exactly 10:48pm at the Swatch headquarter
The Audemars Paguet store in Bal Harbour
Anyone been in it?I passed by but didn't go in. Was surprised by it.And I love the Torneau stores... they have such nice watches on displays. They had hublots on display in the one here. Vawy Pweeeety.
Anyone familiar with this dial?
ref. 165.041, wanted to see if anyone knew if this was authentic or what the deal is.
Something in Lume Pearl?
Ok, is this even possible, something permanent in the lume pip pearl?Just picked up the watch from my AD today and here it is later in the day and I'm really starting to study it. I had noticed what I thought was lint or a thread on the pearl earlier today, but didn't think much of it. Now home and trying to wipe it off and I think the sucker is somehow in the actual pearl. I'm happy to have been able to walk in and buy a Hulk, so it's not going anywhere. I'm just surprised to see this thing. I want to keep rubbing away on it, but I don't think it's going anywhere.Ever seen anything like this?
