How The Talk Of Time Has Changed
How we see time influences how we communicate and perceive time. Time for some people is waiting for hands on a dial to move into position, while for others it is carefully watching seconds precisely count away on a digital display. When I was growing up the terms "analog" and "digital" only had reference to clock and watch faces. It was not until I was a bit older did I realize those words had meaning not related to telling the time.If someone were to ask you what time it was and the analog dial above represented the picture on your watch, what would say? You could say it is just after noon, or half past 12. You might say that it is 12:30, or 'about' 12:30. Or you might not say anything at all and just show them your watch face for them to read in their own way. It fascinates me how reading the time comes in so many flavors. Most of them based on how we subjectively see the time.In the first grade I was taught how to read an analog clock dial in school. I recall the lessons pretty wel
Romain Jerome Chrono Tourbillon Limited Edition Watch
The newest high-end wrist watch from Romain Jerome is another version of their Titanic DNA and tourbillon collection. The naming of the brand's watches has gotten shorter over the years which is a good thing, but the DNA hasn't changed. I appreciate that the name of the watch is just the "Romain Jerome Chrono Tourbillon."The case is the same 46mm wide size that RJ has been using for a few years. I still like the looks of it even though it is a unique style. Not everyone likes the oxidized steel bezel look. It is part of the Titanic DNA concept trying to replicate the look of metal that has been under water. Actually, it isn't so much trying to look like but is. Each of these bezels is oxidized under water to get the signature look. The metal used has a bit of metal recovered from the actual Titanic ship as part of the collection's ongoing theme. For this collection there will be three models available. Each are limited editions. Actually all Romain Jerome watches are limited editions. T
An Open Letter To John Mayer, From IWC
There are always two sides to a story. When we published John Mayer's open letter to IWC, we knew the response would be huge – the overwhelming majority of readers agreed with his sentiments about what he has perceived to be a drastic change in direction for the legendary Swiss watchmaker. Well, the folks in Schaffhausen have heard his thoughts (and your comments) loud and clear, and today, we present their response in full. Dear Mr. Mayer, As you can imagine, we read your open letter to IWC on HODINKEE with considerable interest. We couldn't help but feel we owed you a reply and before saying anything else, we must thank you not only for your long support of our brand but also for the obvious passion for our work that is reflected in your letter. For some reason we kept thinking of the title to a song of yours called, "I Don't Trust Myself With Loving You," as it sounds as if that's how you feel about IWC. As we’re sure you know, the
Seamaster thoughts
As you may know, I recently sent off my favourite speedmaster pro for a service, and I've been left with my seamaster as a daily wearer. It's the first time in a while I've just worn one watch. And I'm impressed I've worn it for just over a month, which included gym sessions, swimming, running, moving twice (business and home!) and pretty everything else I threw at it.... including a few collisions with doors And it still looks and feels great.I'm happy with the accuracy too, just over 30sec fast since I set it over a month ago. Now, I must admit.... I still prefer the looks of the speedy, and the fact that it wears a bit bigger is a big plus (no guesses what my next watch will be ) However, the bracelet on this one is solid as a rock. Apart from the clasp, which is somewhat of a scratch magnet, it wears great, is comfortable and never too heavy. So, overall, very happy! If anyone is considering one of these, go for it.
Drawn to the Daytona 116523
i have found myself lately being drawn back tie and time again to the daytona tt 116523,,,, Now bearing in mind i have never lusted after a daytona before but always thought the platona was a beautiful piece,,,, i am aware the 116523 does not seem to be the most loved of the daytonas but with a champagne dial and batons it just looks lovely imho,,, Are there any particular reasons why this model is not loved like other daytonas? apart from being tt,,,,,,
