Close-Up: Louis Moinet Memoris
Back in 2013, we reported on the discovery of a 19th-century timekeeping device, created by French watchmaker Louis Moinet, that may well have been the world’s very first chronograph. This year, the brand that bears that watchmaker’s name pays tribute to that milestone with the Louis Moinet Memoris, a wristwatch that positions the chronograph as the primary function and the standard timekeeping as an added complication. The Louis Moinet Memoris, released in commemoration of two anniversaries 10 years for the Louis Moinet brand and 200 years since that early chronograph device is described by the brand not as a watch with a chronograph but as a “chronograph-watch.” Louis Moinet partnered with the movement maestros at Concepto (as it has done since the brand’s inception) to develop the movement, Caliber LM54, which incorporates several features that aficionados associate with traditional, “noble” chronographs, including a clutch column wheel a
First Look: Emporio Armani’s New Mechanical Watch, the Armani Meccanico (Video)
Following in the footsteps of brands like Herms, Gucci, Chanel, and others, Emporio Armani has joined the growing club of fashion houses that are producing high-end watches with mechanical movements. Click here to find information on, and watch an official brand video for, the new Emporio Armani Meccanico collection, debuting this fall. Here’s what Emporio Armani has released on the new watch thus far: it will contain an automatic mechanical movement that undergoes a “wear-in process” in which it runs for 1,000 hours before completing quality control. Armani says that this ensures a longer-lasting life for the movement and increases its efficiency and precision. The Emporio Armani Meccanico Collection watches will be available in either round or rectangular cases, in stainless steel or steel with black or rose-gold IP treatment. They will feature partially skeletonized dials inside which the mechanical movement will be visible. The watches will be offered on leather st

315 & 324 Movement
Most of us are aware of the issue with the sticking date on the 324 movement.I have had the privilege of wearing several different Patek timepieces fitted with the 324 movement and never had an issue with the date.I now find myself happily and fortunate in a position to buy a Calatrava 5127.The two pieces that I have been looking at are from different years. One is fitted with the older 315 workhorse and the other with the newer (current) 324 workhorse.Given the chance, which movement would you prefer? Is a slower beat better than a faster one?Is a more smoothly moving second hand better than a slightly more jerky one? Please help me with your thoughts and experiences of each movement.
Rubber strap for Black Bay Bronze
Can anyone confirm if I can buy a decent Rubber strap for my BBB, I thought the Rubber worked but apparently they don't have them for the larger case. I don't really want to use the leather strap and the Nato is getting tired and does not really fill out the gap between the lugs at all. I should start a thread on how many people's skin turns green at night from the Bronze, I have very acidic skin, turned it dark within a week go getting it. And given it is summer in OZ if I perspire at night I wake up with green all over my wrist.
