Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends September 13th
September began with Samsung announcing its new Galaxy Gear smartwatch, we share our thoughts on the Gear as well as those of Om Malik, an experienced tech journalist. We check out a couple of new watches from Ulysse Nardin, MB&F, and Bamford and end off with a look at the top women's watches of this year and a visit to Parmigiani's workshops in Switzerland.1. Parmigiani: Watchmakers Of Yesterday, Today And TomorrowParmigiani is perhaps most famous for its Bugatti watch, but beyond that, the brand actually has a very interesting, though brief, history. In this special feature, our contributor, David Bredan, spent six days with Parmigiani, learning more about their history and learning how they make watches. This is an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at one of the most promising brands right now.Source: watches-dealer (Part 1), watches-dealer (Part 2)?2. So, who's going? I got my invitation a few days ago and looking forward to it, though a possible work trip may get in the way
It was my destiny to own one...
Greetings TRF,I'll keep it short: ever since I bought, enjoyed and sold my SMP I must admit I had the feeling I would get another Omega in my collection someday! The watch I parted with, although I really liked it, wasn't quite meant for me anymore given the horological path I took with all those smaller and vintage watches and since I had other timepieces in mind when I sold it I cannot say it was something I didn't think about or that I really regret, however, the whole experience did make me like the brand even more since I now know that its watches, the vintage as well as the new ones, are as tough, reliable and overall amazing as they're beautiful!I must admit I kept an eye open for a model that I would be able to enjoy to the fullest but I cannot say I had the intention of adding anything to my collection since I purchased a few watches not so long ago. How did that happen? I can barely explain it myself but I can definitely get to this conclusion: it was my destiny to own one...

Seeking to buy my first Rolex
This is my first post on this forum, so please bear with me if I make any rookie mistakes. I’ve been interested in buying a Rolex for a while. I recently received a promotion and am comfortable enough financially to buy a nice watch for myself. I work in financial services and am normally in a suit or blazer (sometimes tie, sometimes no tie) M-Thurs and dress classic casually Fri-Sun.What I want in a Rolex is a “nice” watch that can go seamlessly between suits and more casual occasions that is not too “showy” or “obvious,” yet still retains value well and is easily recognized as a nice, quality watch. In addition, I don’t really have interest in complications and such - I want a watch that will tell the time and maybe show a date. As a result, I am shying away from Submariners (very ubiquitous in my industry, seems too “showy”) and I am even hesitant about the GMT (a model that I’ve kind of dreamt about for years). IR
