My Daniel Roth Athys Perpetual Calendar Watch Article On Haute Living
My first series of articles in Haute Living magazine as their Watch Editor have been published. They also place the articles on their blog in case you miss the publication. I'll try to notify you of new articles I have there, as the watches I discuss there will usually not show up on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer (just so many watches to discuss). So click here to read my article on the Daniel Roth Athys Perpetual Calendar watch on Haute Living. Yet another Incoming Thread. First AP!
Was set on a 44mm novelty panda for a long time due to pricepoint and perceived value. Obviously these are more of an emotional purchase so I ended up with this... Will try for a novelty later on.Also I come from a Panerai 372 which I absolutely love and still have, would a rubber strap be too weird on this watch?
The last line of defence was breached...
Ever since the 40th Anniversary RO was introduced last year, the other ROs IMO pale in comparison. Was always resisting getting it when I already had the 15300 (black). Moreover, the rarity of the 40th Anni RO means it is seldom found in stores. A good reason to resist temptation However, a new piece shown up in Singapore and the rest, as one would say, is history. The only downside was the departure of the 15300 for this. The dial of the 40th Anni RO is really amazing; I can stare at it all day and it won't bore me a single moment. Two minor disappointment though: (1) the bracelet does not fit me as well as the 15300 and a 1.5 link costing S$500 is needed; and (2) there is no screw-down crown for the 50m WR.Nonetheless, it is truly a special watch A few lousy pictures of the special one:
Rubber B strap install on PAM 233
Last night I took some time and installed a new Rubber B strap (black rubber with sahara tan inset stripe) on my (stainless) Panerai 233. Overall a straight forward process, and easy enough. I don't think I scratched anything. :)Noticed that the Panerai supplied leather and rubber straps have a steel pin tube, and that the clasp screw is in the band really good. Had to pull on that one to get it out and over to the new band. What I did not know, and could not find reference on, was IF the steel pin tubes (2; 1 for each side of the strap) were required to be put in the Rubber B strap or I could just leave them out (the Rubber B seems to not take the pin tubes). Can anyone confirm or provide guidance on this? Thanks. Lovin' my first Panerai! :)
To polish or not
I am thinking of selling my Sub Date to finance the watch that has been haunting me for the last year, the BLNR... I take good care of my watches but the bracelet shows of course some desk diving scratches especially on the clasp. no dent do ding no deep scratches just the usual swirls...Should I take the bracelet to the RSC and have them to do a little polish?will they polish the bracelet without doing a complete service? (the watch is only 2 years old)?is it worth it?I myself alway buy BNIB or LNIB so I don't really know the expectation of second hands buyers..Thanks.
