Stowa Takes to the Sea and Sky at Baselworld 2016
Regular readers of worn&wound know that we have a lot of love for Stowa. The popular German brand just gets it; clean design, superb construction and finishing, and a palatable price point make for a wholly appealing package. It's by no means a complex formula, but it's one that seems to elude some of the bigger firms. At Baselworld, we took the opportunity to meet with the man behind the brand, Mr. J?rg Schauer, to check out Stowa's novelties. If what we saw was any indication, 2016 will be a strong year for this German favorite.Flieger ProfessionalFirst up is the Flieger Professional. Designed by Hartmut Esslingerwho previously collaborated with Stowa on the Rana and the b2b seriesthe Flieger Professional is Stowa's latest pilot's watch and addition to its family of robust technical timepieces.Building on the the TO1 platform, Esslinger took a "retro-future" approach to the design to develop a unique visual take on a classic style. He pulled much of his inspiration from natural
Questions about Breitling 1884 - J44362
First offhello to everyone from Buffalo, NY!I am a first time visitor to this particular forum, I don't tend to deal much in watches. Fossils are my thing, (not the watches, but the former living creatures.)My family operates a small estate liquidation business and typically only handle antiques. However, a client approached me with a Breitling watch that was part of the estate and asked if we would be able to sell it. (Don't worry, I'm not on here trying to sell it, or even value it, I know better!)I am simply interested in knowing if anyone can either help me to identify the actual model/year of this watch, or even if someone could point me toward a resource that I could use to identify and value it. (Mostly to determine if it's real.)It is an 1884 J44362, I cannot attach photos since I am a new member, so I'm not sure how much info I can share. It has the Bentley 'B' in the center of the back, and has the model number, 01/50, and the word Bentley stamped in the back in between the
Calatrava Ref# 2526
Stopped in my favorite AD this afternoon to pick up a couple of new straps and behold what was sitting in the estate case....circa 1955/56 yellow gold 2526. Of the 50+ pieces in the case, this one stood out to me the most. Unfortunately, no box or paper and a good chunk of the porcelain dial is missing between 9 & 10 o'clock. The wrist presence is simply amazing and timeless. I can live without the box & paper but the cracked dial...
Pam 499?
Anyone have any pics of the 499 and any thoughts on this piece are welcomed. Only wish it had the power reserve indicator as well. Thinking about getting one. Currently have BLNR and a black chronomat evolution with roman numerals. Looking for something white or silver to change things up a bit. Thanks
Low profile SS...options?
Question for TRFers: BlackBay is a fantastic low profile SS watch that does not break your bank...would you say the same about OP39 or EXP 1 ? Sometimes I need a watch that does not scream Rolex, which is usually identified by cyclops. (I know, this happens when I take a nap, wake up and have no food or drink close by)
