Magrette Moana Pacific Watch Giveaway Winner
It is a definite indication that you readers are serious watch lovers when you are willing to kindly provide a photo update after winning a nice watch. Last month's aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer watch giveaway was for New Zealand's own Magrette Moana Pacific watches, and winner Chris K. shares with us his thoughts and some 'wrist candy' for you see. Here are a few words from him, and images (he did his best to capture the watch. You can always see more pics in my review of the Moana Pacific timepiece here. Also, quick note to you all, the lovely box that you see the Moana Pacific in and resting on does not come with the standard Moana Pacific watch. It is an upgraded watch box that can be upgraded to. Magrette specially included it here for the winner of the aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer watch giveaway. Here are some words from the winner himself:"I have to say that the watch is a pleasure to wear and to look at, and my wife agrees it is both masculine and classy. I was a bit worried it would
5 Dress/Business-Casual Watches for Under $1k 2014
A couple of years ago, we did a guide for dress watches under $1k. Looking at it now, I feel it's time to do another one, with some different options. The watches mentioned there are still valid, but we've seen plenty of watches since then that make the cut too. That said, true dress watches are not really that common, nor really that needed. Rather, watches that are good for work and the occasional formal setting, but could probably be worn whenever and wherever, made the list. So, if you're looking for an alternative to you divers, pilots and tool watches, here are a few good options.Orient Bambino $182?We just reviewed this one last week; between the price and the style it's a sure fire winner. Rose gold markers, pearlescent dial, and an insane domed crystal come together for a design that feels vintage, but doesn't look derivative. If you're on a budget, it's also just one of the best buys out there, with a Japanese made automatic movement and a price tag of $182. But, you don't ha
New steel bracelet...
LOVING my new Diver - I'm thinking I may want to get a steel bracelet to switch out with the rubber strap from time to time...any suggestions on where / how one could be acquired? I'd like to get a hold of a new 2015 bracelet...Thanks guys!!!
A Proud New Member of the Omega Family
Having lurked around the forums for a awhile, I am happy to say that I finally took the plunge and purchased my first real watch: the Omega Planet Ocean 8500 in 42mm. Like many others, I debated on which brand to go with Omega vs. Rolex. Beyond the technical comparisons, I went with Omega for one simple reason: 1. Rolex is just too obvious. Too cliche. I like the idea of owning an Omega because it implies that I actually know a little bit about watches beyond simply the price tag and name recognition. But any-who -- here are some pics!
2 weeks, 6000 dollars
Paid a deposit for the 5712 back in September, I was told the watch will arrive in spring. Today got the email that it is here and I can pick it up anytime. So far fantastic news, the only sour point is that it is only 2 weeks after the price increase. The difference is about 6k but it feels bad as I think that patek was holding the watch until the increase is in effect. I will not miss the opportunity and will buy the watch as it is my absolute favorite. Will post some photos as soon as I get my hands on it.
