Watchmaker Louis Erard founded his eponymous watch brand in 1931 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Now based in Le Noirmont in the Jura Valley, the brand has reinvented its collections in recent years under new CEO Alain Spinedi, offering a focus on mechanical movements with classical complications (and a particular emphasis on regulators) at affordable prices. Here we present highlights from Louis Erard’s two major men’s watch collections, Excellence and 1931.The Louis Erard Excellence collection is considered the brand’s flagship, and one of its signature pieces is the new Excellence Automatic Regulator, the collection’s first regulator-dial timepiece with a self-winding movement (previous models had all been manual-winding). It has a contemporary 42-mm-diameter case (water-resistant to 50 meters) in polished stainless steel and is powered by the Sellita SW200 caliber with a Dubois De?praz 14072 module. iwatch mfg. and innards vs. Rolex
I am an Apple fan (typing this from my Mac and we have 3 iPhones). Also, having taken some electrical engineering classes, I have huge respect for the engineering that goes into the iwatch. That said, these videos explain why I (and am guessing others) will never feel the connection to an iwatch that is felt with a Rolex. Also, I get that Rolex has some of the best videos & advertising on the planet. The 2nd iwatch video is Apple's attempt at what Rolex does so well. Fair or stupid trade?
So here's what I did, I traded my 2014 BLNR picked up new for a BNIB datejust 41 steel fluted bezel. And I already miss my BLNR.I can still reverse the deal but I only have two days to make a decision.A bit of a background, I'm in a suit 5 times a week and the BLNR used to be my dress piece. I have a sub for casual days and I think I wore it with the suit on several occasions. I wanted something dressier and I was eyeing the datejust II as my first Rolex but it was too big on my 6.5 inch wrist and I thought the DJ36 was nice but I was in my late twenties so I thought I'd get it when I'm a bit older and wiser. As soon as the DJ41 was announced in two tone I was smitten by the way it wore and thought that if Rolex releases it in steel it would be the one, and I jumped on it as soon as I got my hands on one.What do you guys think?
