Hands-On: General Douglas MacArthur's Personal Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, Complete With Lacquered Monogram
In April of this year, while searching through an Antiquorum catalog, we discovered one of the coolest examples of one of the coolest watches of all time – a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso owned by none other than General Douglas MacArthur. We've always known the Reverso to be the choice of several great men, but it was unknown that General MacArthur in particular wore the watch. We knew the MacArthur Reverso would have its fans when it came up for sale, and we were right – it sold for over 87,000 CHF. What we didn't know at the time was that the watch would be purchased by the company that originally made it, and we would have the chance to see it in the metal some months later. 1 OF 2 As you can see, the mid-1930s Reverso, retailed Golay Fils & Stahl, features a rich black dial and lacquered monogramming on the case back that reads "D MAC A" – easily one of the coolest uses of a Reverso case back we've come across.The watch, interes

My Grandfathers business card....
I come from a short line watch enthusiasts. My great grandfather and grandfather were both watchmakers, which I knew. I also knew that my grandfather had a work history with Omega as well as as Tourneau. I recently found one of his old business cards in pristine condition. On the business card were logos for AP, Omega, and Tissot. After some research, I learned that the company he was with at the time, Norman M. Morris Corp (my guess is the 1960s?) was responsible for bringing AP and Tissot to the US. I've attached a copy of bis business card. Just something that I thought was cool and wanted to share

Hey guys,I just got my Pam 111 back from service in Toronto. At first I thought that everything was perfect until I noticed that they brushed the lever pin on the crown guard, which is supposed to have a polished finish. I know that it is a very small detail and I also I know that if I bring it back to them, they will likely have to send it to the service centre again just to polish it. My question is, would this bother any of you? Is it worth sending it back for a while just to have it done properly? I attached a before and after picture for reference. New Tudor Glamor Day/Date losing 5 seconds a day
Hi I love my Tudor Day/Date, except that after a week it's averaged a loss of 5 seconds a day. I understand that:1. It's not chronometer certified (-4-+7 seconds/day). But I also understand that its an ETA top movement, and that ETA chronometer movements are just top movements that have been sent in for certification and passed. I also understand that the 2824-2 movement was modified by Rolex in ways that should, I assume, provide additional improvement over off the shelf 2824-2s2. So, I have a top movement (modified by Rolex) that would have failed the certification test.3. So, Should I have it recalibrated (I'm assuming for no charge under warranty)? or:4. Are there any drawbacks/risks to having the case opened for the benefit of correcting one second out of COSC tolerances? (understanding that most would prefer their watches to run fast rather than slow like mine).By the way: my first post - thanks all for a great forum.
