Mondaine Stop2Go Swiss Railways Watch With 2 Second Delay
I was probably standing at a train station in Switzerland for a half dozen times before I first realized a peculiar thing about the clocks. The design of the clocks has been memorialized in Mondaine watches, and later in Apple devices, as they've "borrowed" the design in some versions of iOS. On a white background, the incredibly legible clocks have black hand hour and minute indicators along with a red seconds hand tipped with a large circle. The strange part is that when the seconds hand reaches "O," it just stops for a full two seconds, and then jumps ahead to keep telling the time. This doesn't mean the clocks run slow. The seconds hand quickly moves to catch up with correct time. So the logical question is why? According to Mondaine, the Swiss SBB Railwaya clocks have been doing this for about 70 years. The story starts with a Swiss desire for accuracy - naturally. In the 1940s Switzerland wanted the clocks in each of their train stations to be synchronized. If you are a train hist
strap maker for omega?
love the bullhead, the strap that is standard is fine, however, i do like exotics and I'm thinking that a red rally strap (the one with the large to small diameter holes) of maybe croc or some kind of lizard with grey stiching would look good.....any recommendations on a strap maker? the tricky thing with a bullhead is that the pointy strap, not the buckle strap, has a notch cut out giving the bezel crown room to work without contacting the strap....ps i live in canada if that makes any difference

I'm able to correct 5712 accuracy nightly...
I just bought a 5712/1A and I have noticed something interesting. When I wear the watch, it is accurate within .5 seconds over a 12+ hour span (well within tolerance). However, when I set it down for the night, it loses or gains time based on the direction I lay the watch down beyond tolerance. For instance:Crown up: loses approx. 2 seconds per 10 hours.Crown down: gains approx. 2 seconds per 10 hours.Crown right: loses approx. 2 seconds per 10 hours.Crown left: loses approx. 1 second per 10 hours.Face up: gains approx. 1.5 seconds per 10 hours.Face Down: gains approx. 1.5 seconds per 10 hours. At first I was a bit annoyed that I could have the watch perfectly accurate to the second throughout the day, but when I woke up in the morning, it would lose or gain about 2 seconds (which is more than double the stated tolerance of +2/-3). But now, I find it somewhat useful in that I simply check the exact time when I take the watch off at night, and if it is fast, I place it crown down, and if
