Back to the Past: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Ultra Thin 1948
The iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso has had many incarnations since its debut as a watch for polo players in 1931. One of the most recent is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Ultra-Thin 1948, a classically elegant watch that revives the look of the Reverso model that heralded the style of the 1950s.The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Ultra-Thin 1948 is distinguished from other Reverso models by the inscription “Fabriqu en Suisse” (“made in Switzerland”) on the dial, just below the Jaeger-LeCoultre logo, a nod to the 1948 original. The traditional Reverso swiveling case, with its Art Deco-inspired rectangular shape and distinctive gadroons, is made of stainless steel. True to its name, the watch is very slender, just 7.3 mm thick despite its contemporary large dimensions (46.8 x 27.4 mm).? The back surface of the case bears Jaeger-LeCoultre’s “1000 Hours Control” motto, referring to the brand’s intensive quality control testing, but is otherwise a bl
Alexander Shorokoff Chronograph Kostya Tszyu Watch
I haven't spent much time covering this (Russian named) German brand, but they do make some cool stuff. This piece is a limited edition while a bit more mainstream with some interesting design cues. Yes, that bezel design is from a Vacheron Constantin Overseas. Alexander Shorokoff made this watch in honor of Russian champion boxer Kostya Tszyu and the piece has his name and silhouette all over it.Tszyu is another person on my list of "people I don't want to meet in a dark alley alone" but I have a feeling if you did run into him, it would help you out by wearing a watch with his name on it. The watch is actually part of a greater collection of timepieces from Alexander Shorokoff called the "Great Masters of Russia." Not sure who else got limited edition pieces but, clearly, the collection is meant to appeal to Russian customers. The watch is pretty neat looking and a fine interpretation of how to design a dial around an ETA Valjoux 7750. One thing that I have never seen before is how t
RO 15300 vs 15202. Which one to get at current prices?
Hey guys,On the hunt for the next watch, and I am sort of torn between these two.I love the blue dial, and the 39MM is the perfect fit for my wrists. Now the prices for the 15300 have gone quite high, and i'm not sure if they will stay there, but with the current prices for the 15300's I can't help but feel the 15202 is the way to go.A more modern AP which won't require servicing anytime soon, a really cool movement, and lastly also a watch that will more likely retain value I believe. Looking for input from you guys though! Thanks in advance
