Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubens Barrichello II Watch Available On James List
From a design standpoint I consider this watch to be the pre-cursor of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Survivor watch. Look at the two watches adn you will agree that this Rubens Barrichello II limited edition watch has design cues that made their way into the Surviror watch a few years late. Not exactly the same looks, but part of the same breed. These include the hands, dial design, light vertical texturing (see the strap links here) as well as the crown and pusher design. The pictured watch was part way "there" and then Audemars Piguet just went the distance with the Survivor. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubens Barrichello II watch was made in honor of the namesake Brazilian Formula 1 race car driver. For some reason Brazilian race car drivers seems to be the subject of many high end sport watches from not only Audemars Piguet, but also other brands such as Hublot and Richard Mille - can't say that I know why.The watch was offered back in 2006 in three limited vers
AP as a wedding gift
My Fiance was kind enough to let me get my 15400 as an early wedding gift to myself. After getting my Diver I promised her that I wouldn’t buy another watch until the wedding was over. Hard promise to keep since it’s a yearlong engagement. Anyway, I would like to get her a nice watch as a wedding gift and was leaning towards a Rolex DJ 31mm with diamond dial and 24 diamond bezel. However, knowing my addiction to watches she was also nice enough to let us stop by Geneva on our honeymoon and we are now scheduled for the full tour of the AP museum and manufacture. I was thinking I might want to get her a AP Lady Royal Oak instead of the Rolex. She really likes my 15400 and mentioned she loved how understated it is. She also asked if they had a ladies version as soon as she saw it. LOLDoes anyone have experience with the Lady Royal Oaks? I've heard not to go with the quartz movement because you have to send it to AP for battery replacement. I was looking at the Audemars
Busy week...
I'd decided a couple of weeks ago that I really wanted a Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial after having visited them in a boutique. I thought I really wanted the Spectre, but had sort of talked myself out of it, trying to say it didn't justify the extra cost/etc.I was really digging the Titanium model on bracelet, and decided that was the one for me. I had a lot of trouble finding one, and was finally able to secure one. Paid on Monday, this arrived on Tuesday:It's sweet. The Ti is light, yes, but the bezel and movement add some weight to it. It's really hard to capture the blue in pictures...and it changes depending on the light. I actually don't mind the PCL's like I thought I would. Seems to be just about right on this particular model. So, what's done is done...right?Well...After getting it, just like a cheating bastard I kept thinking damn...what if I had gotten the Spectre? I was second-guessing myself and wondering if I settled instead of just getting what I wanted in the first place
5990 considerations
Hi All, Thinking hard about the 5990...chrono and GMT are probably the complications I like the most and a grey dial adds some variety to what I currently have in the stable. Out of curiosity, what kind of discount have you been getting at AD for this? I know it varies by country/city - if it makes a difference the cities I spend the most time in are full of many deep pocketed individuals (New York, Singapore, London) who buy a lot...Anyone love/hate the 5990? All these 372 posts are killing me...
Just stop guys. I talked myself out of it already and now I can't stop thinking about it.Here is a test drive I took. A little too big for me I know, but it looks so good.Unfortunately to get it something would have to go....
