TAG Heuer’s Silverstone Chronograph Lives Again in 2010
To mark its 150th anniversary, TAG Heuer will re-issue the Silverstone Chronograph in February 2010 as a limited edition piece. Originally introduced in 1974, the Silverstone is instantly recognizable by its cushion cut-shaped case. Named for the famous racing circuit in England, the Silverstone followed the Monaco, incorporating TAG’s patented technical breakthroughs that made waterproof square and barrel-shaped cases possible. For the Silverstone, TAG Heuer's design team softened the Monaco’s angles. Both the original Monaco and Silverstone housed the Chronomatic Caliber 11, the first self-winding automatic chronograph with micro-rotor. Before the Caliber 11, chronographs were hand-wound and watchmakers placed the crown at 3 o'clock for easy access. Caliber 11 freed TAG Heuer's designers from this constraint, and Jack Heuer decided to place the crown of the Monaco and Silverstone at 9 o'clock. The reborn Silverstone is powered by an updated version of the Caliber 11 with
SMP 300 Ceramic..Different shades of blue?
Hi All,Was looking around on the Omega site and noticed that the blue shades are different. One is smooth dial the other the wave pattern. Is the smooth one the 2013 version? I have a 28mm electric blue before they were discontinued. I want to get an auto in a 36mm. I don't think an AD/Dealers would have a new mid size electric blue in their cases. The new ceramic blue looks brighter. I was never a fan of the wave pattern blue..seemed too dark and flat. I also have the black wave in the 28mm too. My most favourite watch. Does the Black ceramic have the wave pattern or is flat like the blue version? Just finding the 28's a bit small. Or is it cause my eyes are older? Lets stick with the size of the watch is too small. Does anyone have a pic of the new ceramic blue dial? Either mid-size or full size? Or any comparison shots? Opinions on the new blue? Thank you kindly..J
Vintage Omega Question??
Hello,Can anyone tell me if they are familiar with a company called 'E Gluck Trading Co'?At some point in the Omega timeline did this company produce parts for some of the Omega watch range?I've opened the back of a really old Omega I've been given and it states that name in the mechanism? Thanks in advance.
Used Omega values
As a Brand Omega are very good, but why is there such a drop in the value of a used Omega. I bought a SMP 4 years ago for about ?1100 and now I have beeen offered only ?450 max by a dealer. It would seem only Rolex hold their value. With hindsight I should have not bought the SMP and saved up for a Rolex.
