First Look: Highlights From November's Phillips Geneva Watch Auction: Two (Featuring A Rolex Daytona 6265 And A Rare Patek Philippe 2497)
Earlier today we told you that Phillips has a new international head of watches in ex-Christie's co-head Sam Hines – but we know what you guys like to see, and that's watches. So we're back to give you a small little taste of the types of watches we'll see in the Phillips Geneva Watch Auction: Two, taking place this November 8th. Patek Philippe 2497 Perpetual Calendar In Pink Gold 1 OF 10 The first watch we'll look at is a reference 2497 from Patek. The 2497 is considered one of the finest and most elegant watches made by the house of Patek – it is a perpetual calendar dating to the 1950s. The last time we mentioned a 2497 on HODINKEE was when we saw a spectacular example from the collection of a Mr. Jason Singer in this episode of Talking Watches. 2 OF 103 OF 10 This particular example is special because it is in wonderful condition and one of the few pieces made not in yellow gold, but in rose. 30m water resistance question
Hello everyone! I wanted to get your insights on something I've been wondering about lately. I own a Patek 5960P (chronograph) with a 30m water resistance rating. Setting aside potential damage to the strap, I am wondering if this watch is capable of being worn in the shower? Everything I've read indicates that a 30m resistance is capable of withstanding rain, splashing, and accidental brief submersion, so I assume that the shower would be fine?In interest of full disclosure, I do wear this watch on a rubberized strap (similar to the Aquanaut) during hot weather months. Often times, I would like to take it into the shower to give it a clean and rinse to erase the sweat and grime that can quickly build up on it. However, I certainly don't want to run the risk of damaging such an expensive piece.Any thoughts?
HULK threads
If I see one more hulk thread, I'll be buying one also. That's also with wifes permission.
