Introducing: The Montblanc 1858 Collection
Montblanc has released four new watches as a part of their new Montblanc 1858 Collection: a single-button chronograph in pink gold, and and three versions of a stainless-steel watch with subsidiary seconds. The collection references the heritage of Minerva, which was originally founded in 1858 and purchased by Montblanc in 2006. The Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter (112637) 1 OF 5 2 OF 5 The first watch in the 1858 Collection is the pink-gold, single-button Chronograph Tachymeter made in a limited series of 100 pieces. Inspired by the chronographs made in the 1930s, this watch features a classic but modern 44 mm pink-gold case with rounded bezel. The single-button chronograph is activated by pushing the winding crown. The large black dial, which is also vintage-inspired, features luminous Arabic numerals with tachymeter scale, and cathedral hands. Incoming, my first AP.
I am in NYC for the night and finally caved to watch I've been daydreaming about since summer.I just bought a AP ROO Navy. Unfortunately it is being shipped so I cant take more pics, but I snapped one in the store. The next two days will be a long wait.
Brand new Patek 5980/1AR that was not winding.
Being actively on this forum, I have realised an alarming number of quality control issues with Patek. Two days ago as I was in Frankfurt, I went to visit my friend that works at a watch store (Bucherer).I saw for the first time the 5980/1AR - two tone. A beautiful shade of blue, and a stunning watch.I tried to wind it, and it would not work. My friend was quite embarrassed at having a piece in the store of that category in that price range that had such an issue. They got in the guy that had the expertise with PP, and he said we need to send it back to get it checked. As much as I love the brand, appreciate their history, and also own a 5711, I can't help but feel because of these things that have been happening much more often than in the past, that I am being forced to look else where when I am going to purchase my first complicated dress watch.I know it doesn't happen often, but I feel like it is being more frequent than in the past.I didnt make this thread in means to disrespect the
Accidental Rolex
This is how it started for me. I was 19 years old and in the U.S.Army stationed in Kassel Germany. The year was 1965. A friend of mine was previously assigned to the 82nd airborne. He had a beautiful watch he used to time his jumps from the aircraft. This watch had all kinds of buttons and knobs and I was really impressed. It was an Omega Sea Master. I owned literally nothing. Even the green uniform I wore belonged to the Army. I wanted one thing I could call my own. I saved my money for a few months. It's hard to save money when your pay is $127.00 a month. I drank about $100.00 a month in that Great German Beer. One Day I got on a train and headed for Frankfort. Arriving at the Post Exchange, I headed for the watch section and asked to see an Omega Sea Master. the sales Lady informed me they were all out of Omegas, but she said We have this. She handed me a watch with no buttons, no knobs, no stop watch, no nothing. However, It was a very nice looking watch. I asked what it, as I had
