Rewarding The Top 10 watches-dealer Commenters In Celebration Of 100,000 Comments
watches-dealer recently celebrated a milestone of reaching over 100,000 comments. We are more than several thousand comments over that at this point, but it was a big deal for us, since having a vibrant community of like-minded watch enthusiast individuals helps fuel our passion for what we do here at the site.In a lot of ways, we have no right to pat ourselves on the back for reaching this volume of comments. That is an honor most properly reserved for the community itself. It is true that we spend a lot of time and effort producing watch blog content for people to hopefully enjoy, but the audience who frequents watches-dealer also dedicated their time and attention - which makes all this possible. So with that said, for 100,000 comments, we wanted to do something special for the watches-dealer audience community. What we decided to do is identify the top 10 watches-dealer commenters (as measured by number of total comments) and do something special for them as a thank you for being p
Van Ree Chrono DNA Watch
When I first wrote about Van Ree watches they had a cool concept and a vintage style design. With their second timepiece, Van Ree of Holland offers a more contemporary design to go with their unique concept. The DNA part of the watch name is not just a cool sounding buzzword, these watches actually do have something to do with DNA, your DNA.The new model for Van Ree is this cool looking Chrono DNA. The first model was called the Personal DNA, and this one has the DNA of a chronograph? Not sure what that is about. If you click on the link above you can read all about the Personal DNA. Van Ree collects your DNA, and then uses parts of the genetic code on the watch itself. There is an imprint of the sequence on the rotor, and in acid base form on the periphery the back of the watch. For the Chrono DNA, I think things have been simplified. The graphics around the dial (as well as engraved into the automatic rotor) are meant to resemble the look of a? graphical DNA sequence. Not actually su
Hands-On: The Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Annual Calendar Chronograph (Live Pics)
The more time I spend in watches, the less interested I become in what the industry calls "halo" pieces. You know, those mega-comps that cost as much as a home in downtown New York, that you hear about exactly twice – when announced at Basel or SIHH, and when they sell at auction for a fraction of their original retail price. I am far more interested in great watches for reasonable prices that people can actually buy, wear, and enjoy, and that seems to be Montblanc's MO these days. We showed you this new annual calendar chronograph from Montblanc about two weeks ago, and I made a point of seeing it first thing at SIHH 2016 because, shit, it's an annual calendar chronograph for $10k. Here are some live pics and thoughts. 1 OF 7 First, they nailed the dial. It's a very complicated watch, with a lot to display, and the dial is more than completely legible. Each sub-register is very well spaced relative to the 42 mm case size – something we
The Audemars Piquet 15400....
The Audemars Piquet 15400.Tried one on at the weekend and fell absolutely truly madly deeply head over heels for it.....Even more so than the long-lusted after Blancpain Fifty Fathoms which I also tried on in Selfridges Wonder-Room in London.Beautiful as it is though, I really don't think it'll take a daily beating at the skip (dumpster?) yard that I manage quite as well as my 216570, so unfortunately it's gonna have to wait 'til my bonus at the tail end of the year. But trust me: The AP 15400 is Spuds new 'one day watch'......as in 'one day I WILL have one'.
