New Limited-Edition Breitling Navitimer Watch Supports Honor Flight Network
Pilot-watch specialist Breitling has partnered with the non-profit Honor Flight Network, which flies World War II veterans to the memorial dedicated to their service in Washington, DC, to release a limited-edition Breitling watch with proceeds going to the organization. I spoke with Breitling USA president Thierry Prissert at the watch’s post-Veterans’ Day launch event at the brand’s New York City boutique.According to Prissert, Breitling’s involvement with Honor Flight began when one of the company’s national sales directors saw the documentary film, “Honor Flight: One Last Mission,” at a film festival in Naples. The movie, which depicted the effort by the group’s Wisconsin chapter to send four retired war veterans to the WWII memorial in Washington, brought national attention to the organization and inspired Prissert, a Frenchman, to get involved after seeing it. “We are a European company, and I can relate to what World War II is
IWC Joins WatchTime for Ingenieur Launch Event at New York Boutique
Last year, IWC Schaffhausen opened its flagship boutique on New York’s Madison Avenue with a celebrity-filled gala. On Tuesday night, the boutique played host to the United States launch of the brand’s re-tooled Ingenieur line of sports watches, co-hosted by IWC and WatchTime. The evening drew more than 50 guests, including watch collectors and diehard fans of the brand, both to experience the boutique’s unique ambiance and to view the new Ingenieur watches, unveiled in Geneva at the SIHH watch fair back in January. ( covered the first of the new models, inspired by the brand’s new partnership with the Mercedes Petronas racing team, the Ingenieuer Chrono Racer. For photos of other watches in the revamped Ingenieur collection, check out Alexander Linz’s SIHH report on IWC at our sister blog, Watch-Insider.)WatchTime editor-in-chief Joe Thompson spoke briefly to the crowd to introduce IWC’s North American president Gianfranco D’Attis, who was rais
CX Swiss Military Watch Survives Shotgun, Dynamite, and 20,000 Feet
It may not slip discretely beneath your dress shirt cuff, but the CX Swiss Military Watch model called 20,000 Feet is what you will want on your wrist the next time you dive to 6,000 meters. The watch will also come in handy if you plan on standing directly next to a large explosion, or if you need something that will stand up to a 12 gauge Winchester shotgun at close range… and there are videos to prove it. As recognized by the Guinness Book of Records, the 20,000 Feet is the only mechanical timepiece certified to a depth of, well, 20,000 feet. For most watch companies, that Guinness Book entry would probably be enough. Fortunately for entertainment-starved watch junkies, the Swiss manufacturer Montres Charmex goes several steps further to prove its timepiece is tough. The brand has produced a series of short videos (with the CEO as presenter) that answer the question “What do you get if you cross an old Timex ‘It takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin” comm

Any Tired-Looking Daily-Worn Pateks Out There?
I've seen plenty of very well-loved (scratched and dinged) high-end tool watches out there (mostly Rolex, Omega...)Do any of us have daily driver Pateks that wear battle scars? So often I read how Pateks are mostly pampered watches. I would cringe...er...LOVE to see pics of Pateks with (gasp) IMPERFECTIONS!Or does that just not happen?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
