Their faces regularly appear in stories you read, but would you know them (and their brands) if you bumped into them in a watch shop? We’ve lined up a dozen high-profile CEOs to test your visual memory. So grab your favorite writing instrument and see how many you can identify. As always, the answers are revealed at the end. Astor+Banks Chrono Review
Astor+Banks is a new boutique brand based out of Chicago that has really hit the ground running. I had the pleasure of getting brunch with the founders a couple of months ago, and I found their approach both honest and compelling. They’re not setting out to change the world one watch at a time, they’re not trying to convince you that other watches are inferiorthey simply want to make good watches with great style at approachable prices. They also didn't jump in headfirst, hastily making something to get their brand out there. No, they've been careful and cautious, making sure that their watches, the components and the story all work. One particularly important element of their story is that the watches are all assembled in their offices in Chicago. The components, which are largely Asian made, come in, are inspected and put together by trained watch makers locally to ensure quality control. While this step isn't truly necessary, it's not like every watch assembled in China
Affordable Vintage: Raketa Big Zero
Stop what you're doing (reading this, I assume), run over to ebay and search Raketa Back? Chances are you just got lost in a weird alternate universe of Russian mechanical watches from the 60's to the 90's. 24-hour dials, strange graphics, Cyrillic bezels and, of course, remarkable prices are some of what you'll find on that search. In fact, I run that search quite often as you never know what weird and interesting designs you'll find. Not only are they often unique, they are quite inspiring from a graphic standpoint. For a brief history of the brand, I recommend watching this video: History of Russian Watch Factory part 1?& part 2One watch that I found that I just couldn't get out of my head was the Big Zero (check out our Pairs Well With too), which according to Raketa's website, this or a similar watch was known to be worn my Mikhail Gorbachev during the 80's. Sure, there are stranger and more unique Raketas out there, such as the Copernicus, but something about this watch just
Need your opinions -- which one to chose - 5167/1A or 5711?
Hi dear PP enthusiasts,I have a deal about to be completed that gives me two options : one is a BNIB 5167/1A, the Aquanaut on SS bracelet, and the other option the Nautilus 5711 - that one being MINT but 1yo.Given that the price difference in that deals is on the range of $1,700, that I'd have to spend extra on the 5711 one, which deal would you prefer?I'd much appreciate your opinions Thanks in advance
Is 116610 Still Short Supply?
