New Omega arrival - Oh yes.
Not quite what you think folks, but following my thread for the 1171 bracelet and a successful WTB, it has arrived. WIS said, its rattly, its flimsy, its tinny, go aftermarket. They were right. Its light, it rattles like there's no tomorrow and feels lighter than titanium. I LOVE IT :D .It melts into the watch, I had to spend some time carefully fitting in the end-links and boy they are a tight fit. But I am chuffed with the watch now. It is complete.Enjoy the piccies fellas the steel collection as it looks now:
Question: on Patek's
I was looking on the non rolex forum on one of the topics about value retention which got me thinking. Can anyone tell me truthfully is there a new current Patek, or a model say that is up to 3 years old, that is under 200k and that in the pre-owned market i.e. someone privately selling it on, will not sustain at least 20% hit on the resale? So is there a current model that you can buy today and sell say one year later and not lose a penny?I would just be interested to hear. I ask because I never buy new, I never buy new cars, watches or new houses(ok maybe clothes!!) Reason being is that the first owner will always sustain a hit of at least the associated tax, be it VAT or whatever, the moment they walk out once they've paid their money. And as I do not have a must buy new character anymore, I prefer to buy pre-owned. I know this may sound like a stingy or mean streak in me, but I have learned the hard way in the past and therefore refuse to succumb again.
5164 and 5712 owners please give your thoughts
Okay, so I have another incoming in a different section. It's gonna be gooooood. But that won't be in mid December. In the mean time as I look to replacing my 5711 I'm considering a 5164 or a 5712. Those who know my previous dilemma about the 5712 may know what's coming in December hehe. But this choice is very hard indeed. Don't go telling me to keep the 5711 cause it's already gone after 3 weeks and no love (I would rather where my RO anniversary in I'm going for the clean blue dial, blue the RO's blue datewheel gets me)Anywho, any owners of either chime in. Thanks! I'm no where near making up my mind. For me, I love the 5712's asymmetry and the moon disc is sweet. But the 5164 has a more practical movement and I actually like the deployant and rubber strap on the 5164...at first I didn't but it's comfy. Anywho enough now your thoughts!!!
Dial Replaced?
Sorry for the noob question. So with my 16710 coke bezel GMT I just bought, it has all the paperwork from servicing back in 2011. It has all the info of what was done and a service warranty card.Once thing that is odd, is that the hands do not have lume. I am wondering if the lume just died (doubt it) or the hands were replaced at some point with aftermarket hands post 2011 servicing. Also the bracelet has some play with it. Not a big deal as it is so comfortable, but was wondering what they could do possibly. How does one go about getting it looked it or sent in? I like in the NYC area. Should I just bring it to an AD and have them look at it, or is there some place special I need to send it to.Thanks in advance!
