Pre-SIHH: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomtre Quantime Lunaire 40.5
Next month at SIHH Jaeger-LeCoultre will introduce the new Duomtre Quantime Lunaire 40.5 – a slightly smaller version of the original 42.5mm watch that debuted in 2010. The new model’s case measures 13.07 mm thick and is 18k pink gold. Production is not limited.Jaeger-LeCoultre’s goal with the Duomtre series is to develop complicated watches that keep time with great accuracy. The goal is achieved by means of the Caliber 381’s “dual-wing” design which features two independent power supplies: one regulated by the escapement and balance, and the other for the time, date and age of the moon displays. This arrangement takes the complications out of the power loop, so to speak, allowing a smooth flow of energy to the escapement. As an added horological bonus, this piece incorporates a jumping foudroyante seconds hand showing 1/6th of a second incrementsplete technical specifications appear below the image.Technical SpecificationsMovement? Christmas Pateks
Hi all,I am very happy and fortunate to have received both of my Pateks before Christmas. The first to arrive was the Patek 5230g NYC edition. It is the perfect World Timer for me. I was hesitant initially since I was concerned about how dark the dial is. In person, the blue is really nice and the blue strap is gorgeous. I wore this for a few days and noticed that the watch is versatile with dressy and casual clothing.Next up is the Patek 5712/1a. I love the asymmetric dial and thinness of this piece. One thing that I notice is the blue of the 5712 is a different shade than the blue on my 5711. The 5711 is a brighter blue and the 5712 is more blue-gray. Has anyone else notice this? Here are 2 quick pics. It is very gloomy today so I will post more pics when the sun is out. Happy Holidays, all!
Patek 5712 - how durable of a watch?
I've got two Rolexes and I'm looking for my final piece- which I'd buy in a few years. So the Patek 5712 is a possibility because of the design, the moonphase, the metal bracelet (no leather/cloth straps), and more specifically, I want a watch with a clear caseback. That being said, how durable/reliable is the 5712? Obviously I wouldn't be running/working out/letting my kid chew on the watch now and then (thank god for the Sub's 300m WR ) with the 5712. And I know that letting the Patek go on a decade without service like a Rolex isn't a realistic expectation either. My expectation is that I can desk dive and get it wet, i.e. if cooking or washing my hands and some water splashes on it and it will be OK. I also don't want a watch I need to send in every 3 yrs because of an issue. Now I love the Patek given the design & history, but what would ruin it for me is if it is too fragile to handle daily life or if I have to have it spend a 1/3rd of the time out for service. I don'
I hate this forum!!
Actually I'm jk but it sure makes me want to spend money. I have the Red ETA BB that I'm currently selling and it's all because I have an opportunity to buy the Black version. Why the hell do I want to do that?? It's the same watch lol. Decisions, decisions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
