JS Watch Frisland God Special Edition With Eyjafjallaj?kull Ashes
JS Watch Co. is Iceland's premier watch maker based out of Reykjavik. Though I can't say for sure if they are Iceland's only watch maker. As small brands go, they have done some nice things and their latest offering is a special product for them. It really takes the Icelandic heritage to a new level, combining a range of design features and cultural elements. This is the JS Watch Frisland God Special Edition timepiece.Watch lovers will recognize a few elements that they have seen before. Good elements that bear repeating. The dial of the Frisland God watch is made from volcano ash. Which volcano? Oh you know which Volcano. None other than the now famous and still unpronounceable Eyjafjallaj?kull. Romain Jerome deserves credit for being the first brand to do a dial with ash from the Volcano after the little incident back in 2010. Over the black ash are printed hour indicators and text. It is hard to tell but the hands are actually rose gold (with applied luminant).Using medieval (and pr
Jean-Claude Biver Steps Down As CEO Of Hublot
Hublot watches just announced that its charismatic and successful CEO Jean-Claude Biver has stepped down as the brand's CEO. I state this with sadness as Jean-Claude has not only been a friend but a very good example of what a Swiss watch CEO should be like. He is a master of marketing and collaborations. He not only knows how to save a brand but also how to make it something that the non watch news wants to cover. As a member of the press if there are two things I can say about him that all CEO's should aspire t0, then it would be his accessibility and involvement. Mr. Biver almost instantly responds to all e-mails and requests, and has a special talent for making each person he speaks to feel unique and important.Jean-Claude isn't exactly leaving Hublot. He will remain there as the Chairman of the Board. This loosely defined position will give him less responsibilites but keep him aboard as a figurehead and adviser to the brand he helped revive. It has long since been rumored that Je
Eterna Madison Watch With New Calibre 3505 Spherodrive Movement
Leave it to a very ordinary watch to showcase some cool new technology. This is really interesting because most watch brands would just go nuts with a wildly designed watch and marketing to tell the world about even the slightest movement improvement. This is actually quite a cool thing from Eterna. You should also know that Eterna actually started the major watch movement maker ETA before it was later acquired by the Swatch Group. Here, the new technology is placed in the demure Eterna men's Madison watch. The new technology is called the Eterna Spherodrive and is a new type of mainspring barrel. That is the part of the mechanical watch the holds the mainspring, which is where all the power comes from. The mainspring is wound manually or via an automatic rotor. As the spring unwinds in a regulated manner, the power it released is used to power a mechanical watch. Every true mechanical watch that is out there uses some manner of main spring. As you can imagine, a mainspring is the heart
Rolex or Breitling (quality)
Rolex or Breitling ? (quality)I know Rolex is something like status symbol, and is considered higher than Breitling. But i was wondering if in the terms of pure quality (without looking on prestige) is Rolex better. Movement, finishing, bracelet quality, etc. If you compare for example the Yacht Master with platinum bezel or the Submariner with the new Breitling Galactic SleekT Unitime (the whole new model, with tungsten carbide bezel) or any other B with in house movement. Which is better? Are Rolex movements better then Breitling in house movements? I read that Panerai, for example doesnt have very high quality in house movements, bacause they are not making them for long time and they need to practise. Is it same with Breitling? Thanks for any answers.
Oh my Omega!
This really caught my eye! Any info?
