Over Sized, Over-BLANK... Overkill!
This article should benefit your perception of media and advertising. Today I take issue with use of terms such as "over sized, over stuffed, over...anything." They make me angry! And I'd like you to feel the same way anytime you see or hear them.I recall a few years ago looking to purchase a new comforter for my bed. I kept seeing the same thing time after time, "over stuffed" with goose down. I had no idea what this meant. Is there some governing body of "Sizes and Stuffing Standards" that dictates how much things ought to be stuffed or sized? Where these pioneering comforter makers ruthlessly defying such standards by putting just a bit too much in the offending comforter? Resulting in the dreadful "overstuffed" label? Oh for shame, rebellious maker of over stuffed goods. Whatever will the consumer think with their bedding on the verge of explosion? Perhaps that is why you are forced to peddle your goods solely on eBay, you rogue bedding trader. But the "over" label does not stop the
Buying an AP in Tokyo?
Hey all. Newly joined member as I have been stuck looking for information. I'm vacationing in Tokyo (I'm from Toronto) for a few days, and I've been looking around for new or gently used preown APs. I have to say, Tokyo is pretty amazing in terms of selection!I was just inside the AP boutique shop in Ginza, and was quoted 2400000 yen for the ROC SS. They have them in black, white, or blue dial!As a reference, used goes for 2000000 yen here. I find it interesting from the sales rep that there's no room for negotiation, as another AP AD (best watches in Shinjuku) was ready to negotiate. I was hoping members on this board can assist me with the pricing in Europe, US and Canada with the 2016 price for this? I tried searching and couldn't find the info. Or another option is to go with DavidSW, but am I losing anything from not buying from an AD?Thank you!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
175th anniversary in October
As you know, Patek will celebrate their 175th anniversary in October, by releasing a set of special time pieces. Mr.Stern mentioned in the following interview, that this time they will try to please regular Patek collectors as well, by releasing not only ultra-high-end pieces:What do you think the new releases would be? Any wild (or not so wild) ideas?I personally believe it could well be something that noone expects. Like a limited run of a steel 2499, or a titanium 5970
PP 5980/1r-001 MSRP?
G'day everyone... Anyone know for sure what is the MSRP for 5980/1r-001? Normally what sort of discount do PP give on these all gold model? I am asking since this is not a normal high complication model even thou it is very rare at this moment of time since it's launch few months earlier after the '13 Basel.. Is is fair to assume this will be a uncommon choice in the future or it will be very popular since there will no longer be a SS version available? Thank you all for your kind patience and cheers! j
