Bring a Loupe: Vintage Chronographs And Dive Watches From Universal Geneve, Breitling, Lip, And Others
This week is dedicated to the new releases of Baselworld, but never fear, Bring A Loupe is here for your weekly dose of some of the most interesting vintage watches out there. This week, we will focus on chronographs, starting with a sumptuous Universal Geneve from the mid 1940s. We will also feature a couple of surprising dive watches, from an obscure Lip to a famous modern Blancpain Aqua Lung. Finally, you will find one Tudor Monte Carlo that you should not bid on. This is your Bring A Loupe for March 18, 2016. A Breitling Top Time Reference 7656 C A Large Reverse Panda 1 OF 8 Breitling introduced the Top Time line in the mid-1960s to appeal to a younger market; as a result those watches featured more playful dials than their tool-watch counterparts, including the Navitimer. Ticket to AP JoyRide ... FOUND !!!
Dear all, I have been silently following the proceedings on this forum for a while ! .. and have finally found my ticket for the joyride A Huge Thanks to Adam Craniotes for helping me choose the AP that best suits my tastes ... and to Matt.Wu for helping me find one .. ! The moment I strapped it on, I was in love .. The Forged Carbon Diver is just so handsome !!! [ it glows like a dream in sunlight .. ], the ceramic bezel is the best I ve ever seen and the level of finishing on the dial is just phenomenal .. Here are a few quick and dirty shots from yesterday evening ... A more detailed pictorial will follow in a while.Cheersnishant
Problem with 40th Anniv Jumbo
Spotted a high number of spots on the dial which I believed is due to the poor coating process. i.e. the underlying brass is slowly showing on an otherwise blue dial. Those with the new jumbo might wanna take a closer look at yours and see if the blue coating is evenly applied.Kinda disappointed given i have bought the watch for less than 2 monthsOff to the service centre it will go today Hope it does not come back with dings and scratches....
Snoopy Speedy watches the shuttle launch....
I think I have wanted to see the shuttle launch since it first started flying. I have a good friend and we've been talking about it for the past 10 years and realized we'd better get going as there were only 4 remaining before the shuttle is retired later this year.We watched the predawn launch from a friends house about 20 miles south of Cape Caneveral. IT WAS AWESOME! Now we've decided we have to go back to the next launch in July (3rd to last) too. After the launch, we went out to the Kennedy Space center. Some pics from that day wearing, what else? My Speedmaster Professional Snoopy.Sorry some of the pics are less than sharp...they were all taken with my IPhone! Hope you enjoy!--Paul Snoopy checks out the Rocket Farm of Redstones, Atlas, Gemini, Titans etc..One of the few remaining unused Lunar Landers in front of the Apollo 13 mission patch...The Snoopy statue inside the Apollo missions complex...Believe this is the command module from Apollo 14 or 15...this thing has actuall
Let's all just take a deep breath :)
I'm excited too! Nothing wrong with that. Most of us all have some pretty beautiful things in hand and ready to appreciate TODAY!
