Historical Bulova Accutron Spaceview Electonic Watch Is Futuristic (For 1965); Immensely Collectible
There was a time when people were really sick of mechanical watches. The little machine movements are enjoying an enormous renaissance right now, but it was not always that way. In fact, back in the early 1990's the mechanical movement was all about to die. How did it get to that point?Back in the late 1950's, all you had at your disposal was mechanical movements, much of which were not very accurate. In an effort to provide more accurate, and affordable (relatively speaking) watches, companies began to search for new movements. Without going into a watch movement history lesson, suffice it to say that in late 1950's the electronic watch was almost ready for production. They were the precursor to quartz watches, which used what is called a "tuning fork" for accuracy and regulating the movement. Quartz watches use a vibrating quartz crystal instead of a tuning fork. Tuning fork watches proved to be much more accurate than mechanical watches and were powered by batteries, not the winding
Rolex Pepsi SS/WG GMT
I have to say i have never been a fan of the WG ceramic pepsi gmt, not because of the bezel because i love it. I just think doing a WG only was a low blow and only a way to push up the price point because of the fact it is PM to bring in the Pepsi bezel lovers that would buy the watch on the bezel alone.Personally i think the oyster bracelet would have been a better choice for SS and Jubilee a right choice for WG. I belive the fact they went the other way around shows me it was a marketing call, now that they brought in as much sales in of WG that played around with the style to sell it in SS.I just dont think that was COOL...
Weight and dimensions of the new 126710 BLRO ?
Cant seem to find it anywhere, and Rolex website is kinda hopeless
Newbie Question on Factory Shipments
Hi All, forgive my newbie ignorance. Im at the point in my life where Im ready so Ive started exploring the Rolex and what I want to buy. Went to an AD a couple months ago and they said forget the Batman, you will not get one. They allocate them to their best customers. They had a Hulk that I loved but wanted to continue looking and you know how that ended. So I went back and they said the same thing about both watches, basically forget it. Went to a different AD who said we don't play that game. we have a wait list and it is what it is. I am number 5 for the Batman and number 3 for the Hulk. I said what the heck, put me down for a white faced ss daytona. She smiled and said your number 50... and we get about 2 a year on those :-)So my question is, any idea when Rolex sends these out? She seemed to think Id get both in 2018 but she of course couldn't venture when. Im guessing Rolex keeps their info very close and doesn't say much about anything from what Ive been reading here.
